Between September 2023 and January 2024 I spent hours with leaders in APAC in different roles, different industries to try and learn where the biggest gaps where and this is what I learnt. 1️⃣ AE leaders DO NOT think your SDRs are ready to be in the AE seat but you as an SDR leader do 🔋 2️⃣ Leaders who aren’t ready to be leaders. Businesses lost a lot of senior leaders through all the redundancies and now we have a huge skill gap where we promoted junior leaders into senior roles too soon. The result? Churn, employeee satifaction goes down and burnt out leaders not knowing what they did wrong. 💣 3️⃣ Metrics / Cross Functional Allignement .This may sound obvious but from enablement to CSM to AE to SDR if we do not have a metric that matters to us all, it will always be a combination of competing priorities, lacks of alignment and it doesn’t matter how many operating principles your business has, you need to be clear about what you want from your teams and it needs to be aligned. 📈 🎦 Tomorrow I’ll do a video about a fix to these 3 points! #leadership #saas #talkingpoints

Omni is growing, and we’re currently hiring for several GTM positions! When I caught up with Rodica Belocosov in KL two weeks ago, I asked her for some insights on this. She said, "Hire for potential, not just experience." This is especially true for startups that are competing for talent with more established firms. But how do we identify potential, especially if it’s not obvious from a CV or without meeting the person? The key is to craft your interview process smartly. For a sales role that requires excellent communication skills, ask candidates to submit a video interview early on. For a technical development role, request a technical assessment. By incorporating these role-specific assessments *early* in the selection process, you can identify high-intent candidates who are genuinely excited about the role and look beyond their paper qualifications. "Sales is boring." Alright. Then you'd agree that those fire outfits that Cisar Sadik and I got for a SALES EVENT (ARRtist Circus) are boring, too? In the beginning, I also thought of sales as a bunch of sleazy snake oil sellers in expensive suits. But there is so much more to sales. The most successful salespeople I know are creatives who constantly challenge themselves, question their strategies, and come up with new ways of improving their own and their prospects life daily. True, sales CAN be boring, if you just copy paste what you've been told during your onboarding. But sellers who LOVE this job and are President's Club regulars know that the key to success is forging your own path and taking the wild route of failure, experimentation, wins, and encountering mind-bending problems. Doesn't sound boring to me at all. Sales can be so much more than old white men in boring suits, if you're willing to leave your comfort zone and tap into your creativity.
