Did you know that the fibre optic cables connecting you to the Internet are made up of strands as thin as a human hair? “As infrastructure engineers, we do the planning for all the cables across Singapore – which exchanges they should go to or which buildings or customer premises they terminate in,” shared Lay Peng Tok, Senior Director of Infrastructure Engineering. When the company appointed her as Chairperson of Women in Networks and tasked her to run a survey to see if female staff experience gender discrimination in the workplace, she was not surprised that the findings revealed they did not, remarking, “Personally, I don’t feel it.” Stay tuned as we continue to share new reflections every week, celebrating our 145 years of communication. You can still get your own copy of Voices from Comcentre for S$25 at select Singtel stores until 31 December 2024. All proceeds go to the Singtel Touching Lives Fund. This fund supports six special education schools which play a pivotal role in shaping the lives of students with special needs. #Singtel #EmpowerEveryGeneration #VoicesFromComcentre #Innovation

We’re proud to share that the Singtel Group has won the Overall Sector Winner, Highest Returns to Shareholders and Highest Growth in Profit After Tax at The Edge Singapore Billion Dollar Club Awards 2024 for our performance over the past 3 financial years. Our Group CFO, Mr Arthur Lang 蓝道义, accepted the awards under the category of “Technology equipment and telecommunications services”. Singtel has been reinvigorating its core businesses and scaling new growth engines, as well unlocking and reallocating capital as part of a major reset that commenced in 2021. Since then, we have seen an uplift in business performance as well as actively recycled capital and progressively raised dividends, resulting in a boost to shareholder value. Compared to FY21, net profit in FY23 was approximately 4x and dividend payouts were almost doubled to 14.9 cents per share. Shareholders can look forward to more exciting developments as we work towards the sustainable value realisation of our latest Singtel28 growth plan. Singtel delivered strong EBIT growth of 27% to S$738 million in the first half-year, driven by better mobile performance and disciplined cost management at Optus as well as continued margin improvements and solid bookings at NCS Group. Our underlying net profit increased 6% to S$1.19 billion and would have risen 9% in constant currency terms. Mr Kuan Moon Yuen, Singtel’s Group CEO, said, “Our half-year results show continued growth in our underlying earnings, indicating a solid start to our Singtel28 plan to lift business performance. Optus and NCS drove the positive momentum, underscoring our focus on execution and operating rigour. The progress we have made in our core businesses, growth engines and active capital management has been reflected in the steady increases in our dividend payouts since our strategic reset in 2021. The changes have been well-received by the investment community. In the second half-year, our priority is the continued execution of our Singtel28 plan which is designed to drive further EBIT improvements and increase shareholder returns through enterprise growth in Singapore and Australia, greater mobile momentum in Australia and a leaner overall cost structure. We will continue scaling NCS and building out Nxera’s data centres which will commence operations from mid-2025 to meet increasing demand. We will also keep supporting our regional associates to capture growth opportunities in the areas of enterprise and fixed broadband.” Singtel’s board has approved an interim dividend of 7 cents per share, up 35 per cent. This comprises a core dividend of 5.6 cents per share and a value realisation dividend of 1.4 cents per share. Both will be paid out on Dec 9. Expressions Through Art 🎨 is back for its third edition – this time at Gardens by the Bay. This year’s exhibition features 37 artworks inspired by scenes from Gardens by the Bay, as well as depictions of animals and landscapes, created by students across all 25 special education schools in Singapore. The special showcase aimed at raising awareness of the talents and abilities of students from special education schools in Singapore is one of many things we do to support this vulnerable segment of society. Mr Yuen Kuan Moon said, “Art is a powerful medium for expression, and we’re proud to be able to give these students a chance to shine through this initiative. We’re also glad to have partners like Gardens by the Bay, National Gallery Singapore, and SMRT who are helping to showcase the students’ talents in more locations so more people can appreciate the capabilities of these students, fostering a more empathetic and inclusive society.” Show your support for these students by checking out the exhibitions at the following locations and snapping some photos! 📷 7 – 22 Nov: Gardens by the Bay (North Colonnade) 9 – 22 Dec: National Gallery Singapore (City Hall Chambers) 9 – 31 Dec: Six trains on the North-South, East-West and Circle lines This initiative is part of our corporate philanthropy programme, the Singtel Touching Lives Fund. Do you remember the days of 2G and the iconic ‘brick’ phones, as well as your very first smartphone? We’re thrilled to launch a weekly series that will shine a spotlight on some behind-the-scenes stories from our recently published Voices from Comcentre book. Singtel staff, past and present, offer unique perspectives into the ways we connect with one another, as well as the iconic building in the heart of Singapore which stood as a symbol of our nation’s technological ambitions. “The difference was that 2G was all about voice and 3G was about data,” shared Edmund Quek, who reflected on the 3G rollout and how the team overcame signal strength challenges. In fact, Apple chose to launch the iPhone 3G at Comcentre in 2008 due to the building’s superior 3G network quality! Stay tuned as we continue to share new reflections every week, celebrating our 145 years of communication. You can still get your own copy of Voices from Comcentre for S$25 at select Singtel stores until 31 December 2024. All proceeds go to the Singtel Touching Lives Fund. As a homegrown technology company, we aim to give back to our local community as much as we can. One way we do this is through what we call, VolunTeaming - where we combine teambuilding with meaningful service to the community. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting 206 students and teachers from 3 special education schools once again this year for a morning of melodies, movement, and poetry at the Singtel Waterfront Theatre, Esplanade. The students got to watch The Feelings Farm - a heartwarming play about how children navigate their feelings in today’s environment, told through a variety of interactive elements. To make the day even more memorable, over 80 Singtel volunteers showcased a variety of engaging science experiments and performed lively renditions of ‘Baby Shark’ with their band of nine talented musicians. The day wrapped up on a high note, with students heading home with snack packs, and fond memories, while our volunteers left feeling inspired and fulfilled by the experience. This initiative is part of our corporate philanthropy programme, the Singtel Touching Lives Fund (STLF), which supports students with special educational needs - empowering them to achieve their full potential and lead meaningful lives.
