About us
With a smart system of reusable returnable packaging, we offer corporates, cafes, and customers a convenient alternative to single-use packaging. To date, we’ve saved over 400,000 single-use items across our projects in Singapore, Hong Kong, the US and Canada! By tagging each reusable with a unique QR code, we are able to track and monitor each reusable in our system, allowing for optimized inventory management and accurate impact data – thus removing the need for a deposit. Having achieved a return-rate of 98%, our proprietary expertise can extend beyond F&B to make sustainable convenience a reality for multiple consumer products. Our team is always on the lookout for new friends, ideas, and partners. Reach out to us at [email protected] to join the #ReuseRevolution!

What does it take to transition to a circular future? 🌍♻️ Plastic bans are becoming more common worldwide as cities and countries look for ways to reduce waste and protect the environment. But making these bans work isn’t as simple as switching to “eco-friendly” alternatives. Our case study takes a closer look at Hong Kong’s single-use plastics ban, launched on Earth Day 2024, and the lessons it offers for creating real change. With 3.9 billion disposable food containers used each year, Hong Kong had to rethink how it manages waste. The results showed that reusable systems were not only better for the environment but also more cost-effective in the long run. At the same time, the case study highlights why alternatives like biodegradable plastics aren’t always the solution and how supporting businesses and educating consumers make a big difference. If your region or business is considering similar changes, this case study provides insights into what works — and why reuse is the most promising path forward. Have you ever thought about the role plastic plays in the F&B industry? 🌍🍴 It’s everywhere — in the packaging we rely on and, unfortunately, in the microplastics found in our environment and food. But not all plastic is created equal, especially when it comes to reuse. Materials like polypropylene (PP) are helping the industry rethink waste. Lightweight, durable, and food-safe, PP has a lower environmental impact than many alternatives and makes reuse systems easier to adopt. ♻️ At Muuse, we pair PP with stainless steel in our reusable packaging to balance sustainability and practicality. Both materials are durable, recyclable, and designed to support the transition to a circular future. The future of food packaging? It’s not about single-use versus reuse — it’s about smarter, sustainable choices. 🌏✨ #Muuse #Sustainability #ReuseRevolution #CircularEconomy #ReusablePackaging

At Muuse, we’re proud to be making a real difference in the fight against climate change. So far, we’ve saved over 50 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions! That’s like driving an average car around the Earth five times or planting 800 trees. 🌍🌱 Our reusable packaging system has been shown to produce up to 81% fewer emissions compared to single-use disposables — thanks to our Life Cycle Assessment with Unravel Carbon. And at Our Tampines Hub (OTH) in Singapore, we’ve already saved 1.2 tonnes of CO2-equivalent emissions since November 2022. With increased uptake, we could achieve savings of up to 21.3 tonnes of CO2 per year — the equivalent of 10 flights from Singapore to Toronto! It’s clear that reusables aren’t just better for the environment, they’re also a practical and impactful solution to reduce emissions and waste. We’re excited about the future of reuse and making sustainability the norm. #Muuse #ReuseRevolution #Reuse

Muuseletter Issue 9 is here! 🌍♻️ Plastic bans are making waves across the globe as cities and nations tackle the growing crisis of plastic pollution. From the EU’s sweeping ban on single-use plastics in 2021 to Canada’s ban on manufacturing, importing, and selling these items, the shift is undeniable. But how do these bans play out in real life? In this issue, we highlight Hong Kong’s single-use plastics ban, launched on Earth Day 2024, and the lessons it offers. The city’s journey shows that simply swapping plastics for “eco-friendly” alternatives isn’t enough — reuse systems are where the real change happens. We explore how reusable container programs have proven more cost-effective and environmentally impactful in the long run, and why infrastructure, business support, and consumer education are critical to making plastic bans work. As the world moves toward a circular future, one thing is clear: reuse, supported by the right systems and technology, is the most promising path forward. Curious about how single-use bans can drive real change? Don’t miss this issue of the Muuseletter for insights, challenges, and opportunities — including Hong Kong’s inspiring case study. #Muuse #Muuseletter #ReuseRevolution #CircularEconomy #PlasticBans #Sustainability

One of the biggest misconceptions about reusables in the F&B industry is around hygiene. But here’s the truth: when handled properly, reusable containers can be just as hygienic — if not more so — than single-use items. Here’s why: 🧼 Rigorous Cleaning Standards: Many countries set strict guidelines for sanitising food contact surfaces. For example, the FDA’s guidelines ensure that reusables meet high hygiene standards. Reusable containers are washed with hot water, run through high-temp dishwashers, or disinfected, ensuring deep sanitisation. 🥄 Smart Material Choices: Stainless steel, a non-porous, odor-resistant material, stands up to high temperatures without wear. This makes it ideal for reusables, keeping containers clean and fresh through multiple uses. 🔍 Routine Inspections: Regular checks for damage or scratches help keep hygiene on point. Containers showing wear are replaced, ensuring reusables maintain a consistently high standard of cleanliness. 💬 Educating Consumers: Building awareness of these hygiene practices boosts consumer trust in reusables as a safe, sustainable alternative to disposables. The bottom line? Sustainability and hygiene go hand in hand. Reusable containers, managed with care, aren’t just eco-friendly — they’re a hygienic choice for a cleaner, greener future. 🌍✨ #muuse #reuse #circulareconomy

Can we rethink single-use culture in our everyday dining? At Muuse, we believe the answer is yes. We introduced a reusable container program at Our Tampines Hub’s Hawker Centre in Singapore, one of the city’s iconic food spots. Running from November 2022 to October 2023, this initiative offered a real-world test of how circular practices can fit seamlessly into daily life. ♻️ But going circular is about more than just reducing waste. It’s about rethinking consumption habits and engaging communities. Through clean-ups and film screenings, we connected with 3,000 people to raise awareness around disposable waste issues, sparking conversations on the future of sustainable dining. 💬 This project isn’t just about one location; it’s about redefining what’s possible. As businesses, communities, and individuals, we have a chance to reshape our collective habits and make reuse the rule rather than the exception. 💚 #Muuse #Reuse #CircularEconomy

Meet Natasha Kakkar Chawla, our Hong Kong Director at Muuse! 🌏✨ Natasha leads our Hong Kong operations with a mission to expand Muuse’s reusable solutions across the city. Her days are filled with strategic planning, partner check-ins (hello, Starbucks Coffee Hong Kong and Swire Properties!), and sparking new ideas to tackle Hong Kong’s unique sustainability challenges. Natasha’s passion for sustainability began near Delhi, where a growing landfill transformed into a “mountain of waste” over the years. That powerful experience inspired her to dive deep into environmental work, leading her to champion reuse. Outside of work, Natasha is never without her stainless steel water bottle, and you’ll often find her practicing yoga to stay centered. 🧘♀️ Favorite part of her job? Seeing Muuse’s impact. Biggest challenge? Changing mindsets built over decades — but she’s here for it, one step at a time. We’re so lucky to have Natasha’s passion and insight leading the charge for a waste-free world! #muuse #sustainability #reuse #circulareconomy
