Keppel stays ahead of emerging technologies, trends and disruptions across our infrastructure, real estate and connectivity segments with the support of think-tanks such as the Keppel Technology Advisory Panel (KTAP), which comprises international business leaders and industry veterans who provide foresight and guide innovation processes that hone our edge as a global asset manager and operator. Each year, we convene the KTAP conference, bringing together thought leaders and experts from academia, startups and MNCs, across sectors and disciplines, to share their perspectives, solutions and experience with our Board and management, limited partners, collaborators and guests. Themed Asset Manager & Operator of the Future, this year’s conference centred on anticipating opportunities and disruptions from key tech trends, and how we can leverage the latest technologies to enhance asset operations and smarten the investment process. The conference also featured live demos of generative AI applications among other solutions co-developed by Keppel with our ecosystem of tech partners. Here are some highlights from the event.

We are pleased to share that Keppel has partnered Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Enterprise Singapore (Enterprise SG) to explore USD 800 million worth of energy transition, environmental sustainability and blended finance opportunities in Asia and the Pacific region. The energy and environment projects are expected to contribute towards building the pipeline of high-quality, proprietary infrastructure assets for Keppel’s private funds and listed business trust. The cooperation on blended finance, which explores potential uses of concessionary financing, will further improve bankability, support development outcomes, and help mobilise private investment for the projects. Ms Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, said, “As the global push towards decarbonisation accelerates, the demand for financing to support clean energy transition and environmental projects across the Asia Pacific has never been greater. Keppel offers technical expertise and innovative solutions for large-scale sustainable infrastructure projects. Leveraging our unique strengths as a global asset manager and operator, we can also mobilise external capital from partners effectively. Coupled with ADB’s concessionary financing and regional cooperation expertise, as well as EnterpriseSG’s deal-matching and market access capabilities, our partnership is uniquely positioned to drive impactful change and help the region achieve green growth.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gYW5ruDN

We are pleased to share that Keppel, ACEN and GenZero have joined hands to catalyse the retirement of coal-fired plants in Southeast Asia. The parties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly explore the origination and utilisation of Transition Credits (TCs) to accelerate the retirement of a coal-fired power plant (CFPP) in Batangas, the Philippines, and replace it with a clean energy despatch facility. The origination and sale of TCs will help to accelerate the decommissioning of the 246 MW South Luzon Thermal Energy Corporation CFPP located in Calaca, Batangas by 10 years (i.e. 2030). When completed, this project is expected to be one of the first converted CFPPs in the world to generate TCs. This pioneering initiative reflects the shared commitment of the partners to accelerate the orderly and just transition to clean energy in Southeast Asia. Guests of Honour, Ms Grace Fu, Minister for Sustainability and the Environment of Singapore and Ms Maria Antonia Yulo Loyzaga, Secretary for Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines, witnessed the signing of the MOU by Ms Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, Mr Frederick Teo, CEO of GenZero, Mr Cezar Consing, Chairman of ACEN, and Mr Eric Francia, President and CEO of ACEN. As part of Keppel’s annual Global Safety Time-Out, Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel and Ms Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, visited the project site of the new 43 Mega-Watt peak solar photovoltaic (PV) system, which Keppel was appointed to design, build, own and operate for Changi Airport Group. The solar PV system, which is expected to be completed in early 2025, will be Singapore’s largest single-site rooftop solar PV system, alongside further solar PV installations on the turf area within Changi Airport. Thus far, more than 127,000 manhours without lost time incidents have been clocked since work commenced on the solar PV system at the end of 2023. The annual Global Safety Time-Out serves as a valuable reminder for all employees and our wider workforce to enhance safety vigilance and regularly review safety processes. On this occasion, Keppel’s senior management together with Mr Koh Ming Sue, Executive Vice President of Changi Airport Group also presented safety awards to various contractors and workers recognising their strong safety performance on the project.

On 4 August 2024, Keppel volunteers joined Singapore’s Minister for Health Ong Ye Kung and MPs for Sembwang GRC at the National Day celebrations at SPD@Canberra, SPD's new senior care centre, which caters to seniors with disabilities or who require rehabilitation or assistance with activities of daily living. SPD@Canberrra is supported by Keppel and is part of Keppel’s $1 million donation to SPD announced earlier this year, which goes towards the establishment of the centre as well as the provision of subsidies to reduce the financial barriers to rehabilitation and day care services for elderly clients. During the celebrations, Keppel volunteers brought cheer to seniors with activities such as adapted floorball and memory games.
