About us

The Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) is a not-for-profit organisation established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in 2024 to harness technology and foster innovation for more efficient, resilient, and inclusive financial ecosystems through global partnerships.  GFTN organises convening forums, offers advisory services on innovation ecosystems, provides access to transformative digital platforms, and invests in technology startups with the potential for growth and positive social impact through its venture fund. Our initiatives have convened over 350,000 people since 2016 to drive the growth of FinTech through events, closed-door roundtables, investor programmes, educational initiatives, and research. Our flagship product is the Singapore FinTech Festival alongside fast-rising platforms, including the Point Zero Forum and the Japan FinTech Festival.

🛍 As the world of e-commerce evolves, frameworks for seamless cross-border transactions become increasingly vital. At the #InsightsForum, a roundtable session moderated by Chek-Tchung Foo titled, “A playbook for open digital cross-border commerce between ASEAN & India” brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and technology experts to discuss the industry challenges of today and discover ways to enable more inclusive, secure, and efficient digital commerce ecosystem. The panel highlighted three key areas to focus on: 🔎 The critical role that market forces will play in driving standardisation and efficiencies in the e-commerce space, rather than solely relying on government interventions 🔎 The need for interoperable technologies that allow diversity and flexibility to unlock cross-border e-commerce opportunities 🔎 The acceleration of stable coins and digital assets adoption for real world use cases as a tipping point to unleash new benefits in e-commerce For more details, stay tuned for our Future Matters report to be launched in 2025.

We've heard from participants about the impactful outcomes that emerged from the discussions at the #InsightsForum last week. But did you know that behind the scenes, 12 students from St Joseph's Institution (SJI) were given the opportunity to be a part of the Forum as supporting scribes for the roundtable discussions? Through the sessions, they learned to listen and take notes, each supported by a mentor. Here’s what some of them had to say about their Insights Forum experience: “The Insights Forum was an unforgettable experience. I loved every discussion and interaction and am inspired to be a policymaker in the future.” - Sebastian “I learned so much from the Insights Forum. It gave me an exclusive glimpse into the fintech industry, and how different stakeholders play a part in building the industry.” - Ashlyn Thanaraj “I did not know much about DeFi or tokenization, but through the Insights Forum, I learned so much more about the the technology and how the finance industry is advancing.” - Kim Sungyun Thanks, Tamara Singh, for making this happen!

    Elevating New Nordic Fintech Innovation

🥳 Exciting news from #singapore for the #nordic fintech ecosystem! 🇸🇬🇳🇴🇸🇪🇩🇰🇫🇮🇮🇸 Copenhagen Fintech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the GFTN (Global Finance & Technology Network) to jointly organize and develop the Nordic Fintech Week (NFW) in 2025 and beyond. This partnership is set to elevate NFW as the premier fintech and technology event connecting the Nordic region and Northern Europe with the global stage, particularly Southeast Asia. 🚀 Nordic Fintech Week is already the biggest and most international fintech event in the Nordics, but this new partnership will take it to the next level. With GFTN's influence and expertise, we're bringing new perspectives, richer content, and deeper cross-border connections. Expect even more international speakers, impactful regulatory and policy discussions, and concepts like "Founders Peak" that spotlight the amazing entrepreneurs building the future of finance. Our journey and connection with the Singaporean fintech ecosystem and GFTN, previously known as Elevandi, began back in 2017, and we've been continuously inspired by how Singapore has been shaping the global fintech landscape, as well as their remarkable growth and vision/ambition. We've watched MAS, Elevandi and now GFTN transform the Singapore FinTech Festival into a 🌏 global flagship event, setting new standards for the fintech ecosystem. GFTN's decision to go beyond Singapore and build a greater ambition and vision aligns perfectly with our shared mission to connect vibrant fintech ecosystems across borders. Together, we're aiming to create a truly global conference in the Nordics that not only strengthens connections between the region and Southeast Asia but also fosters meaningful relationships across the world. Together, Copenhagen Fintech and our partnership with GFTN will be turning NFW into a 'must attend' event for anyone serious about fintech and technology. 'Nordic Innovation. Global Scale' as we say. We're incredibly ambitious about the future and thankful for the impact that Elevandi and GFTN have already had on shaping the global fintech landscape. Here's to the next chapter of growth and collaboration! 🍾 A huge 'Thank You' to Sopnendu Mohanty, Matthias Kröner, James Boey, Pat Patel, Takeshi Kito and rest of the team at GFTN. Also thank you to the Danish ambassador to Singapore, Jakob Brix Tange for the support. #nfw25 #fintechmatters #cphfintech Simon Schou, David Grundy, Lisa Varder, Wassa Camara, Laura Kristine Østergaard Sørensen, Nicolette Tham, Marie-Louise Roth, Kristine Helen Falgren, Andrei Anghel, Barbara Švigová, Steen Lund Olsen, Kent Damsgaard, Rolf Kjærgaard, Lone Ryg Olsen, Johan Rosengreen Kringel

And that’s a wrap! 🎉 What an incredible time we had at the week-long Singapore FinTech Festival and Insights Forum! MAS fielded 19 speakers and moderators across 459 engaging sessions – from panel discussions and roundtable sessions to fireside chats and keynote speeches – each one contributing thought leadership, valuable insights, and inspiring discussions. A huge #thankyou to our speakers, sponsors, as well as everyone who attended and connected. It is inspiring to see like-minded individuals pushing the boundaries in #FinTech, #AI and #QuantumTechnology. It has been rewarding to see the energy, collaboration and innovation unfold. This couldn’t have been possible without the strong partnership of our co-organisers Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) and Constellar. We are looking forward to the 10th edition of the Singapore FinTech Festival in November 2025! #SFF2024 #SGFinTechFest #SFF Sing Chiong Leong | Sopnendu Mohanty | Kenneth Gay | Alan Lim | Alvin Singh | Jo Yeo | Lionel Wong | Gillian Koh Tan | Eugene Goh | Vincent Pek | Aimee Chiuten | Xuchun Li | Simin Liu | Abigail E. It has been a week and I'm still buzzing over the #InsightsForum. To quote a pop princess, please, please, please do share the feedback and spread the word. We may have had to cut applications to attend early this year, but maybe we can fit more in for 2025. Register interest here: https://lnkd.in/g_2pGNRA There was so much to take pride in and celebrate, top of mind for which would be the teh-riffic people, particularly those who showed such support like - INSEAD alumni Bithin, C. Sean Lawrence, Shoko, Anna, Arvin - D10X innovators, allies and alumni Victor, Ana, Chirdeep, Jatin - the folk willing to take a chance and actually work in the design thinking sessions. Can't wait for those outcomes!! Veerawin, Suba, Lotte, Arvind, Raquel, Lisette, Jost, Drew, Bryan, Sandra, Siddharth, Pramod, Rene, Daniel, Benedikt, Mei Lin Fung (shout out People-Centered Internet), Irfan, Eelee, Dan, Michael, Kwok Jia Chuan, Brad, Kah, Yam, everyone Green Circle Pauline - fun people to scope out sessions with like Angela, Sai, Ivan, Sophia ...and I am capped on mentions so will credit so so so many more in the comments. One special top of page mention to Jorgen Skibsted and the kids for putting up with emotional absenteeism for six weeks in the run up to the Insights Forum, and still being willing to be around just in case I needed a hand. This is our why.

Did you know: Bamboo is as strong as steel, with the toughness of concrete making it suitable to be used as a structural building material? At the #InsightsForum, a Design Thinking session was held around securing finance and climate solutions through agroforestry with a focus on bamboo. Curated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the session sparked much interest among participants as they rolled up their sleeves to tackle questions and searched for solutions to more effectively use bamboo as an affordable, and disaster-resilient housing solution. Read more about its potential and how a successful pilot in the Philippines can be scaled and replicated globally in this article by the DAILY TRIBUNE: https://lnkd.in/gwjPwrJ2 #Sustainability
