Description

After serving a research fellowship at Rice, Randy Allen entered the practical world of industrial compiler construction. His career has spanned research, advanced development, and management including Executive Director, Software Development of Kubota/Ardent Computer, Sun Microsystems, Vice President, Performance Engineering of Chronologic Simulation, and Director in the Advanced Technology Group of Synopsys.
In 1998 Allen was a co-founder of C2 Design Automation, which became CynApps, where he was Vice President, Engineering.

Allen founded Catalytic Inc. in 2001 and serves as its Chief Technology Officer & Vice President of Engineering.

Allen is co author of the book Optimizing Compilers for Modern Architectures. He has authored or coauthored 15 conference and journal papers on compiler optimization, restructuring compilers, and hardware simulation.

Allen received his A.B. Summa Cum Laude in Chemistry from Harvard University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences from Rice University.
