Lisa McIlrath founded R3Logic in 2000 and serves as president and CEO.
From 1994 to 1998 she was a full-time Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University and from 1998 through September 2000, a Visiting Professor at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab, while on leave from Northeastern.
In her second year as a Professor at Northeastern, McIlrath brought together the team of University and Industrial researchers that obtained an initial $5M contract from DARPA to develop 3D circuits for advanced image sensors. In the second year of this program, MIT Lincoln Laboratory joined the team to perform the 3D circuit fabrication. Following the successful conclusion of this first program in 1999, she led the group to bid for and obtain follow-on contracts totaling $5.8M to develop more advanced 3D systems and methods. The 3-D process technologies developed in this program have since been used in three DARPA-sponsored multi-project runs in which over 50 organizations have participated since 2005.
McIlrath received a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT in 1994, an MS in Operations Research from the University of Texas at Austin in 1989, and a BS in Physics from MIT in 1976.
