However, for channel codes which need to cope with voice applications a much shorter delay has to be considered. Therefore, artificially enhancing diversity techniques could resolve this even voice communication links. VDES could then also serve as a joint data and voice communication service. We further investigated the PAPR of singleand multicarrier systems. The impact of the roll-off factor showed about 1.5 worse PAPR compared to a multi-carrier system with only eight subcarriers. The loss could be partially compensated by techniques that shape the signal before the power amplifier to optimize the communication link.

This Master’s thesis project attempts to show that a packet service on the edge of the radio interface can be a viable solution. The proposed service uses a new ETSI initiative called Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) that will allow for enabling the massive number of connected devices to execute real-time computationally-intensive applications directly at the network edge. The implemented packet service combines the concepts of SDN and ETSI MEC by investigating MECs ability to offer local cloud environments of the mobile network and combine this with SDN, in particular its concept of software switching. -
