“Charlotta satt med i styrelsen för Plast AB Orion under perioden då första externa VD rekryterades. Ett spännande och inte helt okomplicerat projekt, då det var jag själv som skulle ersättas. Charlotta är en av de mest briljanta affärskvinnor jag mött. Står gärna till förfogande i förekommande frågor rörande Charlotta och hennes kompetens!”

Currently, an application for a dissolution of marriage may be made only on the ground that the marriage or civil union has broken down irreconcilably. The ground for the order is established if, and only if, the court is satisfied the parties are living apart, and have been living apart for 2 years before filing an application. Recent amendments to the Family Proceedings Act will soon see the grounds for a dissolution of marriage extend where a party has been a victim of family violence. Read more in our latest article..

It seems the UK’s Conservative Party are bound to lose the General Election, regardless of when in the year they call it. Damage limitation is now the name of the game. But, the question remains: who stands to benefit? Will Kingston-Cox argues that despite the Conservative Party's decline, it's misguided to assume all right-leaning voters will flock to Labour under Keir Starmer, as he lacks Tony Blair's broad appeal. Instead, figures like Dominic Cummings, with his new "Start-Up Party," and others like Matt Goodwin, seek to fill the ideological gap with new right-wing alternatives. These developments suggest a fragmented British Right, potentially diluting Conservative support further and inadvertently bolstering Labour, despite Labour not being a direct beneficiary of right-wing voter realignment. #conservatives #reformuk #nigelfarage #mattgoodwin #dominiccummings #unitedkingdom https://lnkd.in/ejREgZKG

If it’s risky to give a child a virtuous name, consider the quandary of political parties. Labour has enjoyed at best an on-off relationship with workers, while the Conservative and Unionist Party is currently best known for destroying ties with our neighbours. As for the Liberal Democrats, it’s possible neither of their names are accurate. Some years ago, the presenter Andrew Neil asked Nick Clegg whether ‘democrat’ was the right word for a party so keen on ignoring the Brexit referendum. More recently it’s the ‘liberal’ side of the party’s name that’s been called into question, owing to its lukewarm commitment to personal responsibility. While there’s a whiff of the middle-aged office worker clinging to a vestige of student radicalism, the Lib Dems are at least the only major party that wants to create a regulated market for cannabis. According to its manifesto, sales will be restricted to those aged 18 or above, with products available ‘from licensed retailers with strict limits on potency and THC content’. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive component associated with weed’s high, as well as various psychological problems. Strains of ‘skunk’ sold on the street tend to be especially laden with it, which is why the Lib Dem policy hopes that offering legal alternatives will undercut the black market. This is liberal enough in a country that still bans most recreational drugs. But the policy sits uncomfortably with Lib Dem support for creating a ‘smoke-free generation’ by banning everyone from buying cigarettes if they were born after 2008, even when they reach adulthood. ✍️Jimmy Nicholls https://lnkd.in/eWgVMqaD

Former home minister and Congress MP P. Chidambaram has sharply criticised the National Medical Commission's (NMC) re-revision of the undergraduate forensic medicine curriculum, calling it 'unbelievably retrograde.' The revised curriculum controversially categorises sodomy and lesbianism as ‘unnatural sex offences’ and omits distinctions between consensual and non-consensual queer relationships, rolling back earlier changes mandated by the Madras High Court in 2022. It also omits what used to be a seven-hour course on disability. Medical professionals and LGBTQ+ advocates fear this revision could undo recent progress in inclusivity. The NMC defended its changes, citing the need to adapt to India’s evolving demographics and socio-economic contexts. https://lnkd.in/ejRPdQTw Graphic: Faizan Khurshid/NH #MedicalEducation #LGBTQRights #PChidambaram #ForensicCurriculum #NMCReforms #Congress #NationalMedicalCommission

The court acquitted the wife, ruling that in the absence of any conclusive evidence, her suspicious conduct alone was insufficient to convict her of criminal conspiracy The Orissa High Court has ruled that a wife’s failure to report her husband missing or to actively search for him, coupled with living with another man, does not amount to criminal conspiracy under Section 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Teenage boys are falling victim to financial "sextortion" scams, where online predators trick them into sending explicit photos and then demand money with threats to widely share the images. These scams have rapidly increased in recent years, capturing the attention of federal law enforcement trying to crack down on the often internationally-based perpetrators. Tech companies have new safety measures but struggle to keep up with evolving tactics used to target minors online. The Details: 📲 Predators are using fake accounts posing as peers to befriend and groom victims before soliciting explicit content. 📲 Once images are obtained, they threaten to send them to the victim's contacts unless paid a ransom. 📲 The impacts on victims range from anxiety and depression to, tragically, cases of suicide after such abuse. If you’re in this situation, experts advise you to immediately stop responding and block the harasser. Do not delete the conversation so you have proof and can report it to the authorities. Do not send any money — even if the user has sent incriminating photos, giving into demands will rarely make the problem go away, and will often encourage them to demand more. Next, alert the platform. Most have a place to report sextortion. https://lnkd.in/eEgGtUkj

🤔 Don't assume a phone call is authentic just because they know your name. #CourierFraud often targets vulnerable and elderly people via calls to their landline or mobile telephones from withheld numbers from someone purporting to be a police officer or figure of authority. The criminal then proceeds to inform the victim of fraudulent activity on their bank account and sometimes claims that their bank staff are involved to deter them from contacting the bank another way. The criminal then often directs the victim to attend their local bank to withdraw a large amount of cash and to return home where it will be collected by a police courier for examination – who is actually a criminal associate. Alternatively, the criminal asks the victim to handover their bank card and personal information to that same courier. Work at the #NEROCU continues to pursue fraudsters and bring them to justice, but officers are also determined to make sure the public feel confident and capable of challenging scammers to help catch them in the act and report them in real time. We want to empower victims and raise awareness of the complex scams being used to dupe people out of their hard earned cash. No reputable organisation will mind if you take your time, challenge them, or ask for proof and hang up. If in doubt, speak to someone you trust, drop into your local bank or call the number given on your official bank statement. If you’re sent a link by text or email don’t click it, report it. 📲 For help and advice visit the #ActionFraud website. If you need to report a crime or suspicious activity please speak to your local police force.

Policing Insight
In the UK, partners or family members are responsible for nearly half of all female homicides, but there is an increasing rate of statement withdrawal from victims in high-risk domestic abuse cases; the LSE’s Professor Tom Kirchmaier and Dr Ekaterina Oparina highlight the alarming relationship between a police officer’s workload and the rate of withdrawal of statements by victims. ❝An addition of 10 cases per officer per month is related to a three percentage point increase in the likelihood of victim withdrawal.❞ ❝During the observation period, the proportion of cases resulting in victim withdrawal surged from 5% to 38%, a staggering increase of 33 percentage points. Our result suggests that the increased workload accounts for 9% of the total rise in withdrawals – a significant portion.❞ ❝Our suggested interpretations of these findings, informed by the institutional knowledge, is that subjecting officers to time pressure leads to policing practices that affect how victims react and engage with the process.❞ https://lnkd.in/e2g2XE4N #lawenforcement #policing #police #crime #domesticabuse #violence #violenceagainstwomen #victims #investigation

Fellowship Books, a leading publisher of religious and political books, has released an updated version of their top-selling book, 'Defeating Conservative Republicanism.' This revised edition delves deeper into the controversial topic of Donald Trump and his economic policies, drawing criticism from the former president's supporters. Author and political commentator Eric Demaree argues that Trump's policies benefited the wealthy while failing to uplift the middle class and the poor. 'Reasonable people can look at any third world country and see that if the rich get richer their money does not 'trickle down' to the middle class and the poor,' Demaree stated in a recent interview. The book also examines the puzzling alliance between Trump and Evangelicals, questioning how the former president, who has abandoned traditional Christian values, could garner such support from a religious community. Demaree criticizes Evangelicals for trivializing God's Laws of Love and Mercy and joining the ranks of infamous groups like the Pharisees and the Spanish Inquisition. While Demaree's statements have caused a stir among Trump's supporters, with many dismissing them as baseless liberal attacks, the book has brought fresh insights to the pressing issues of today's political debates. As the country prepares for the upcoming elections, the impact of Trump on the economy and the moral fabric of society remains a hotly debated topic. #politics #economy #religion #controversy

Born in 1964 into a modest household in Malaysia, Lee Thiam Wah faced immense challenges from an early age. His parents, a hawker and a construction worker, could only afford to provide him with six years of formal education due to financial constraints. To make matters worse, Lee was afflicted with polio, a debilitating condition that severely limited his physical abilities and made it difficult for him to secure employment. Undeterred by these obstacles, the young Lee refused to be defined by his circumstances. Determined to support himself, he began selling snacks from a roadside stall, showcasing an entrepreneurial spirit that would eventually transform his life. Despite the societal odds stacked against him, Lee's unwavering will and relentless work ethic paved the way for his remarkable success. In 1987, Lee’s entrepreneurial journey took a significant turn when he used his hard-earned savings to launch his own supermarket, aptly named 99 Speed Mart. With his keen business acumen and unwavering dedication, Lee steadily grew his company, expanding it into the largest mini-market chain in Malaysia. Over the years, 99 Speed Mart’s footprint continued to expand, with the company opening nearly 2,600 stores across the nation. Lee’s vision, coupled with his ability to adapt to changing market trends and consumer preferences, propelled the company’s rapid growth. As 99 Speed Mart’s success soared, so too did Lee’s personal wealth. In 2024, 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings Bhd, the parent company of Lee’s retail empire, made headlines with its initial public offering (IPO) on the Malaysian stock exchange. The $531 million IPO was the largest in the country in seven years, further solidifying Lee’s status as one of Malaysia’s wealthiest individuals. At the IPO price of 1.65 ringgit ($0.38) per share, Lee’s net worth skyrocketed to an estimated $3.3 billion (approximately Rs 27,711 crore), making him one of the richest billionaires in Malaysia. His story serves as a powerful reminder that with the right mindset and a steadfast commitment to one’s goals, even the most daunting obstacles can be overcome. 99 Speedmart #StartupStory #99SpeedMart

⚖️ A high court judge has ruled that the ban on prescribing puberty blockers to children with gender dysphoria in England, Scotland, and Wales is lawful. 📅 On May 29, the Conservative government issued an emergency order to temporarily prohibit the supply of puberty blockers based on overseas prescriptions, following Dr. Hilary Cass’s review of gender medicine. 📋 The review highlighted the lack of evidence regarding the benefits and risks of puberty blockers, leading to legislation that permits their use only as part of an authorised clinical trial. ⤵ Read the complete story below: #GenderDysphoria #PubertyBlockers #MedicalReview #LGBTQ #News #UKLaw

With the government mulling a proposed bargaining code for news publishers, the likes of Google and Meta could find themselves forced into deals with Indian news publishers. While this is akin to developments in countries like Australia and those in the EU, India has its own unique complexities. For over two decades now, internet giants have used news publishers’ reliable, fact-checked content to grow engagement on their platforms and earn billions in advertising revenues. In fact, before Google was set up in 1998, news publishers accounted for almost half of the advertising revenue globally. Today, their share stands at less than 8%. Trump Will Cancel AUKUS The headlines have been stark and the speculation rife: "Defence industry left waiting for AUKUS after Donald Trump victory" and "Will Trump cancel AUKUS?" dominate the media landscape. These headlines, while eye-catching, do not capture the comprehensive scope of opportunity that the AUKUS alliance presents. Rather than talk about how bad it could be, and what Donald Trump might do, we should be talking about the strength we can create and put forward the benefits that we can build together. Bolstering U.S. Military Capabilities One of the strategic pillars of AUKUS is the enhancement of U.S. military capabilities through the establishment of submarine manufacturing in South Australia. This move is designed to extend the reach and readiness of the U.S. military, reinforcing the tri-nation defence strategy that is pivotal for maintaining stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This strategic positioning allows the United States to project power more effectively and respond to regional challenges with agility and force, significantly bolstering its global military posture. Technology and Industrial Advancement The missile manufacturing initiatives planned in Australia will heavily rely on American technologies, know-how and investment. This collaboration means American industry can expand and innovate alongside its AUKUS partners. It represents an opportunity to further integrate the U.S. defence industrial base with those of its closest allies, strengthening the collective industrial capabilities across all three nations. These projects are not just about military preparedness; they are catalysts for substantial employment opportunities, leveraging American construction expertise and industrial scale that is necessary to achieve such monumental tasks. Beyond infrastructure and technology, AUKUS aims to develop a skilled workforce proficient in high-tech defence manufacturing across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. This initiative will cultivate a pool of talent that can operate seamlessly across these nations, offering a resilient and diverse base of skilled people that enhance the military and industrial strength of each partner.
