🚴♂️ Stockholm City Named Cycling City of the Decade! We are thrilled to announce that Stockholm City has been awarded the Region Stockholm Cycling Award for 2014–2024! This prestigious recognition highlights our continuous efforts in expanding and maintaining our cycling infrastructure, making Stockholm a model for cycling development both regionally and globally. Over the past decade, we've invested over 2 billion SEK in new cycling infrastructure, resulting in approximately 10 kilometers of new bike paths each year across more than 100 major projects. These efforts have paid off, with cycling in Stockholm doubling over the last 15 years! Key initiatives like new bike lanes, improved maintenance, and innovative measures such as cycling against one-way traffic have significantly enhanced our city's bike-friendliness. As we strive to become Europe's leading cycling city, we remain committed to further innovation and investment in the coming years. A big thank you to everyone involved in making Stockholm a better place for cyclists! 🌟 #sustainablestockholm #Stockholm #CyclingCity #SustainableTransport #UrbanDevelopment #CyclingInfrastructure

✨ Företagare i Farsta i fokus! 🚀 Exploring Stockholm's Legacy of Innovation: 6 Groundbreaking Inventions As we eagerly anticipate the 2023 Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm, let's take a moment to celebrate the rich history of innovation that has emerged from this city. Stockholm, a hub of creativity and ingenuity, has given birth to groundbreaking inventions that have left an indelible mark on the world. Here are six Stockholm-born innovations that have changed the way we live and interact: GPS for Navigation🌐 Håkan Lans's Self-organizing Time Division Multiple Access (STDMA) navigation system, blending GPS and radio technology, is now globally used, including in our everyday mobile phone GPS systems. Lans's dedication and scientific research paved the way for safer road, air, and maritime navigation. Spotify: Born in Stockholm in 2006, Spotify revolutionized the music industry, becoming the world's leading music streaming provider. With over 456 million monthly active users, Spotify, founded by coder Daniel Ek, has not only reshaped how we consume music but has inspired its own Netflix TV series, "The Playlist." Dynamite 💥 Alfred Nobel, a native of Stockholm, sought to make construction safer with his invention of dynamite. Despite its explosive nature, Nobel's later concerns about the use of his inventions in warfare led to the establishment of the Nobel Prizes, reflecting his commitment to global peace. Respirator: Carl Gunnar Engström's Universal Respirator, developed in Stockholm, marked a significant advancement in patient safety. This mechanical ventilator, capable of delivering controllable breaths, became a standard feature in anesthesia machines. Pacemakers ❤️ In 1958, Stockholm-based engineer Rune Elmqvist and doctor Åke Senning collaborated to create the first cardiac pacemaker. This life-saving device, implanted into Arne Larsson, extended his life until 2001 and laid the foundation for modern pacemaker technology. European Banknotes: Stockholms Banco, founded in 1657, was the first European bank to print banknotes. This institution, a precursor to Sveriges Riksbank, played a pivotal role in shaping the history of European currency.
