OX2 secures 200 MW of battery energy storage systems (#BESS) at government auctions in #Poland. The two units are to be commissioned 2027-2028. The result of the auctions further strengthens OX2's position on the market in Poland. "Poland is one of the key markets for OX2 and I am glad that we are adding more energy storage to our portfolio. The development of renewable energy drives economic development, strengthens security, builds independence and offers solutions to curb climate change. We expect our contribution to the Polish energy transition to continue to grow in the coming years," says Paul Stormoen, CEO, OX2. OX2 is about to become a hybrid Independent Power Producer (#IPP). We have secured financing by the energy transition bank NORD/LB for the Rutki solar farm in #Poland. The financing marks a first step to building a portfolio of projects owned and operated by OX2. “We are entering a new era for the company and this project proves our ability to successfully execute projects among the most relevant renewable energy technologies. We are excited to welcome Shiyam Selvarajah to OX2. Shiyam will oversee our expanding Battery Energy Storage System (#BESS) portfolio in #Australia. He holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and brings over 15 years of experience in the utilities industry. “I’m thrilled to join OX2 to lead the Australian BESS portfolio. For me, it’s about being part of an organisation that’s making a real difference and contributing to a more sustainable future — something I’m truly passionate about. I'm excited to leverage my technical expertise in #batteries and the energy sector, along with my experience in project delivery, to make a meaningful impact and to help accelerate the energy transition,” says Shiyam. The demand for #hybrid projects in the #renewables sector is increasing, especially in Australia. These projects, which combine solar or wind farms with BESS using the same grid connection, play a crucial role in ensuring grid stability and managing peak energy demand.

Construction update: The first five turbines of the Niinimäki #windfarm in #Finland are up, standing at a height of 250 meters. "Assembling a single #turbine takes about five days. If all goes as planned, eight turbines will be completed by the end of the year, with the entire wind farm scheduled to be operational by spring 2025," says Ville Häkkinen, Project Manager at OX2. Once complete, the wind farm will feature 22 turbines with a total capacity of more than 145 megawatts. We are proud to announce that Rachel Watson, OX2’s Country Manager for #Australia, has been recognized as one of Australia’s 100 Top Energy Players by The Australian, a leading newspaper, in their supplement The List. Under Rachel’s leadership, the Melbourne-based team has grown from 20 to approximately 35 people, and the business has expanded from #solarpower into #onshorewind and an increasing focus on #BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems). We are proud to announce that OX2 will begin construction on the 119 MW SEC Renewable Energy Park Horsham, one of the first publicly-owned renewable energy projects in #Australia. The solar farm was sold by OX2 to SEC Victoria, a government-owned renewable energy company in the State of Victoria, in September and officially unveiled on Wednesday at a sod-turning event on the project site. “I want to thank SEC Victoria for their commitment and seeing the huge potential of this project which allowed it to scale up beyond what was initially envisioned and become a reality. We look forward to entering the construction phase together and to leveraging OX2’s strong track record when it comes to health and safety and being a good neighbour in the community,” says Rachel Watson, Country Manager OX2 Australia. The project will also include a 100MW battery energy storage system, #BESS, on the same grid connection, making it OX2’s first #hybrid project. Hybrid projects provide grid stability and manage peak demand, which can help lower power prices.
