💬 Do candidates REALLY like engaging with a “chatbot” during their job application process? This is a common question at Hubert, and for good reason. TLDR: The overwhelming answer we get from candidates is ✅ YES (read on if you’re not convinced, or watch the video to hear directly from candidates). Now, would we all prefer to talk to a human? Probably yes (although this sentiment is increasingly shifting, particularly in the early stages of the application). But as we know, that’s not always possible – especially when a role attracts hundreds or thousands of applicants. When it’s simply too slow or costly to have a person conduct all the screening, AI-powered tools can offer an effective solution. Here are the real options companies face: 1️⃣ Stick with the status quo – Sticking with CVs, forms, and phone screening, often overwhelming recruiters, leading to slow feedback or ghosting. Unconscious bias also creeps in as they rush to meet deadlines. 2️⃣ New tech, same old process – AI CV screening. This approach uses AI to filter CVs and applications for recruiters. While some tools are effective, others are less so, but it relies heavily on CVs having the right, consistent information – which is rarely the case, hence the rise of skills-based hiring. As a result, candidates may spend too much time applying for roles they are unqualified for or mass-applying, leading to a poor experience for both candidates and recruiters. 3️⃣ Predictive Interviewing™ – A structured, repeatable, and fair skills-based interview delivered in a Conversational AI format. This method uses proven methodologies to consistently and accurately assess a candidate’s fit for a role, quickly and efficiently. It prompts candidates for additional details when needed (something an application form can’t do) and provides clear, constructive, and real-time feedback on the outcome. At Hubert, the latter approach works. We’re proud to see a 96% interview completion rate and an average candidate satisfaction score of 9/10 for our AI-powered Predictive Interviewing™. Candidates appreciate that Hubert offers a level playing field, saves them time, and gives them a better chance to fully represent their fit for the role. And for recruiters, Hubert saves 85% of the time they’d spend on initial screenings, allowing them to focus on adding HUMAN value in later stages. Is Hubert perfect? No. But the experience is significantly better than options 1️⃣ and 2️⃣, and almost entirely removes any risk of bias. We would love to get your feedback. With so many potential uses for AI, it can be hard to navigate and prioritise those that will have the biggest impact to your business. Even Conversational AI alone has many different use cases (“chatbots” were not all created equal!). ❌ There is a danger of falling into the classic trap of using AI as a “solution looking for a problem,” when of course it should be the other way around. It is so important to look beyond the tech and understand the specific use cases. That’s why we developed this framework – to help TA leaders identify what would move the needle the most for them. The intention here is to use this as a tool to think about “What PROBLEMS do I really need to solve?” and “How significant are these problems?” to help identify the highest value use cases to focus on first. This will help separate some of the “nice to have” use cases from those that will have significant business impact. Of course, this will be different for different businesses, so we hope you’ll find the table useful as some food for thought. At Hubert, we don’t cater for all of these use cases.
