  • Knowledge & Coffee Sebastian Arnesson  #12 On our latest knowledge & coffee it was time for Sebastian Arnesson. He talked about technical debt, something that every tech team faces at some point. Sebastian broke down what technical debt really means and how the lack of proper maintenance can create ripple effects over time. Sebastian highlighted how good documentation plays a crucial role in managing technical debt: 📚 It makes system updates smoother by providing clear guidelines on what to change. 🛡️ It reduces the risk of unintended consequences when teams implement new features or fix old ones. 🕒 And, it saves time by ensuring that no one has to “guess” why something was built a certain way. While it might feel time-consuming now, it pays off exponentially when it comes to maintaining and updating systems down the line. Thank you, Sebastian, for shedding light on an issue many teams experience but don’t always address head-on. How do you manage technical debt in your organization?

  • Knowledge & Coffee Hampus Wetterlöf  #11 This week, it was Hampus Wetterlöfs turn to take the spotlight and share insights from a recent project. Hampus told us about the challenges he faced when implementing Amazon Connect for one of our clients. The client was facing issues with missed calls and agents being unexpectedly logged out. On top of that, their setup was separated across multiple accounts and environments, making it hard to pinpoint what was happening. Hampus walked us through how the team approached this: 🕵️♂️ They identified how calls affected agent statuses and what was causing calls to be missed. 🌙 They analyzed what happens when a callback is scheduled in the middle of the night—and how to make sure the customer experience stays smooth. 🛠️ They tailored the solution to improve the experience for both agents and customers. The result? Agents now have a more efficient, seamless workflow, and callbacks work as they should—any time of day. Hampus wrapped up by sharing how this project has led to a new offering within Elastic Move, where Amazon Connect functionality can now be customized to meet customer needs.   • This week, it was Samuel Werneflos turn to share insights during our Knowledge & Coffee. His topic? A challenge many of us can relate to: selling. 📈 Samuel started with a bold admission: “Everyone says anyone can sell—but I don’t feel like I can sell!” This sparked an interesting question: If selling is for “everyone,” how does someone uncomfortable in a sales role make it work? Samuel shared a practical approach: sell internally first. Instead of jumping straight to the client, involve your colleagues in the sales process. By leveraging everyone’s strengths, selling becomes a team effort: 🔧  Technical experts focus on identifying areas for improvement in the customer’s environment. 🤝 Sales roles use their skills and relationships to show the customer the value of making those changes. The result? A process that’s not just about selling but about thoughtful, collaborative improvement for the client. Samuel highlighted that this approach works on both technical and organizational levels—it’s not just about generating revenue but about creating a cleaner, more modern environment for our clients.   • ☕️ Knowledge & Coffee #9 ☕️ Time for a new presenter - Jacky Tu, our cloud engineer, shared some valuable insights from a project he was part of when he was quite new to Elastic Move. The project included implementing a backup solution for a client. The task was supposed to be straightforward: identify what was done, figure out what was left, and get the solution fully operational. But as often happens, the reality turned out to be more complex. After mapping the remaining steps, Jacky identified some additional requirements to meet the client’s full needs. The end result was a backup solution that met the expectations—but the journey there wasn’t without its lessons. Jacky’s reflections were both humble and empowering: Sometimes, you have to step into shoes a size or two too big. And while responsibility can feel heavy, it doesn’t mean you’re alone. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Things might go wrong—but they’re easier to solve together. Thanks, Jacky, for reminding us that responsibility isn’t about being solo.   • ☕️ Knowledge & Coffee #8  ☕️ This week, it was Måns Olm who took center stage in our Knowledge & Coffee series, diving into the unique challenges of scaling up. As we grow from a startup into a scaleup, Måns shared some valuable insights on the impact of rapid growth—not just in terms of numbers but on our people, culture, and processes. He introduced the concept of “social debt”. Social debt refers to organizational challenges that come with expansion. Ex. problems with sharing of knowledge, heavy reliance on a few individuals, lack of diversity or unhealthy social relations. These early warning signs point to areas that need attention to avoid larger issues down the line. To navigate these challenges, Måns emphasized the importance of building awareness and establishing structures and a culture that enables continuous improvement.. Here are some of the practical steps he shared with us: 📌 Establishing open channels for communication so teams stay connected and informed. 📌 Creating regular knowledge-sharing routines to prevent silos and promote collaboration. 📌 Investing in diversity and inclusion initiatives to bring a wider range of perspectives. Growth can cause growing pains, but Måns reminded us that with a mindset of continuous improvement, these pains become opportunities to build a stronger, more resilient organization.
