Alstom releases first X’trapolis 2.0 for Melbourne   Recently, a six-car trainset was delivered to a depot in Newport for trial operation in 2025. The train will provide passenger service on the 1,600 mm gauge commuter network of the Australian city by the end of that year.   A fleet of 25 trains, worth €300 mln, has been ordered by the Melbourne transport department in 2021. They will replace the trains built by the local train builder, Comeng, in the 1980s. The X’Trapolis can carry 10% more passengers (1,225), has a 15 km/h higher maximum speed (130 km/h) and a 0.4 m/s2 bigger acceleration (1.2 m/s2). Inside the train, there are 20 places for passengers in wheelchairs and multifunctional spaces for prams and bicycles.   The vehicles are assembled in Ballarat, Australia, with the achieved localisation level of 60%.   Between 2002 and 2020, Alstom delivered 106 X’Trapolis 100 EMUs to Melbourne, which belong to the previous generation.   Images: UnkoEats/X #rollingstock #rail #railway #EMU #mobility

  • One of #Dellner's technical experts, Wojciech Truszkowski, recently conducted few training sessions on how to maintain couplers (both theory and practice) for the crews of two of our valued customers in Poland: Koleje Śląskie and Koleje Wielkopolskie Spółka z o.o. These sessions have ensured that out customers’ teams are equipped with the skills and knowledge to maximise the safety, reliability and performance of their equipment. 💡 Benefits of Dellner couplers maintenance training: ➡️ In-depth understanding of coupler systems; ➡️ Enhanced operational efficiency; ➡️ Reduced downtime and maintenance costs. We’re thrilled to see how satisfied the participants were after gaining valuable knowledge to make their work at the railways easier, safer and more efficient. At Dellner, we’re committed to sharing our expertise and supporting our customers every step of the way.🚆✨ #service #maintanence #train #safety #training #coupler

  • Recently, we successfully completed the First Article Inspection (FAI) of Dellner’s couplers for the Trenitalia project! Our automatic couplers with type 10 heads are now ready to equip Stadler’s locomotives. These couplers feature a purely mechanical connection, without an electrical coupler, while incorporating a Double Acting Damper in the centre section for enhanced energy absorption. FAI is a crucial step in the production and delivery process, where the customer thoroughly inspects and accepts the first produced product. It’s the verification stage, ensuring that everything meets the highest quality standards. We would like to thank Raúl Guerrero from our customer’s side as well as end operator representatives for their invaluable collaboration and support in making this FAI a success! A special thanks to Dorota Rak and Adrian Paszkowski from Dellner for their leadership and expertise throughout this project! We are proud that our solutions meet the expectations of the industry leaders! 💪   #Dellner #Trenitalia #Stadler #FAI #AutomaticCoupler #Railway #Innovation

  • Dellner Service Team just visited our customers in #Shanghai and couldn’t help but marvel at the scale of the Shanghai Metro. Did you know that China is home to the  9 largest metro networks in the world? 🌍 The Shanghai Metro, in particular, is the world’s longest metro network, spanning 831 kilometres, with 508 stations across 20 lines. 🚆✨ Handling 3.7 billion passengers annually, it’s the second busiest transit system globally- and it’s still growing! The Phase IV expansion, set for completion in 2024, will add another 453 kilometres to its network. Operating nearly 24 hours every day and reaching speeds of 120 km/h, this metro is a testament to Shanghai’s incredible urban connectivity and infrastructure. 🚇 #Dellner plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Shanghai Metro. Supplying one-third of the couplers used in Shanghai Metro trains, Dellner’s equipment is fundamental to maintaining the reliability and safety of the city's transportation network. Additionally, our local workshop in Shanghai provides essential services, including couplers' overhauls and lifetime extension, thus ensuring that our products remain in optimal condition and support the metro's demanding daily operations. 🔧🛠️ This localised approach reinforces strong customer support and enhances the efficiency and longevity of our Train Connection Systems. Impressive innovation and efficiency! What are your thoughts on urban transit systems around the world? Gabriel Hornemann #china #shanghaimetro #metro #metroline #couplers #trainconnectionsystems
