European Accessibility Act and Standards – What SMEs need to know

SBS organised a webinar on the accessibility of products and services in view of the latest standardisation requests by the European Commission and the review of other already existing standards. The purpose of the webinar was to raise awareness of SMEs and SME organisations for accessibility standards and the potential impact it might have on SMEs.

Participants had the pleasure to listen to Ms. Inmaculada Placencia Porrero, Senior Expert of the European Commission’s social affairs unit, responsible for Disability and Inclusion, who gave an overview on the European Accessibility Act and the current standardisation requests. Later, Mr. Rudolph Brynn, SBS Expert in the area of accessibility, working for a company giving advice related to universal design of building and outdoor areas, digital accessibility and usability, legislation and standards, presented the activities of SBS in this context pointing out the important elements that SMEs should know and how they might be affected.
