Local Title: SENIOR WEB AND MEDIA DEVELOPER

JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB GOAL:
To provide the District with a well-designed and maintained presence on the World-wide Web, continued access via the District Internet/Intranet, and to leverage social media tools for communications.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, (i.
e.
, computer science, computing and information technology, graphic design technology, communications, etc.
) Four (4) years of professional work experience in advanced web design and support.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to take initiative to begin projects without supervision.
Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Ability to work independently and to make decisions with minimum supervision.
Ability to schedule time, prioritize, and work efficiently.
Ability to handle multiple tasks in stressful situations with ease and efficiency.
Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Ability to trouble-shoot problems and implement corrective actions.
REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer SUPERVISES: N/A PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans, schedules, and reviews the work of the district’s Internet presence.
Provide advice and council to departmental clients on the appropriate and effective presentation of student and other district data by promoting the proper use of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and keeping up-to-date on developing HTML and XML standards.
Creates and designs the internal and external web pages.
Develops User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) for use in web applications; codes markup in varied languages.
Trains staff in work procedures and provides technical assistance in difficult situations as required.
Collaborate with other staff in the management of the content, flow and accessibility of information on the district computer network.

Designs and analyzes system requirements; develops system and programming specifications for web designers.
Schedules all ongoing maintenance activities for assigned systems; reviews problems encountered by operations staff and schools/departments; analyzes efficiency of current system and procedures; and schedules modifications and enhancements.

Tracks project status and reviews work in progress to ensure conformance to plans and design standards.
Keeps abreast of latest eXtensible HyperText Markup Language [(x)HTML] specifications and web technologies; researches and recommends web design options.
Assists the district with the appropriate use of social media tools for communication, promotion and education.
Conforms to all appropriate federal, state, and district rules, regulations and safety standards.
Performs other tasks related to the position as assigned.
Ability to manipulate and create graphics with a variety of tools.
Ability to manipulate images with a variety of tools.
Ability to create, design, and manipulate images and other electronic media for use on the web.
Knowledge of Cascading Style Shells (CSS) and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML5).
Knowledge of proper use of and experience with the following media/file types; Graphic Interchange Format (GIF), Joint Preprogramming Guidance (JPG), Portable Network Graphics (PNG), Moving Picture Experts Group (MP4), video compression (H.
263), WebMedia (WEBM), Shockwave Flash (SWF), Macromedia Flash (File Extension) (FLA), WebPhoto (WEBP).

Ability to prepare clear and concise program documentation, user procedures/reports of work performed, and other written material.
Ability to exercise independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
Ability to contribute effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals objectives, and activities.
Knowledge of new and emerging technologies and computer user applications.
Ability to recognize hazards and apply safe work methods.
Ability to make effective verbal, written, analytical, technical, and persuasive presentations to individuals/large groups.
Ability to manage several projects/programs simultaneously and maintain high-quality service while meeting goals.
Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
Ability to develop and maintain an effective working relationship with District staff/vendors, other agencies, and the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
