Ceremony Of Opposites

Ippocalyptica Tied with Passage as the best Samael album, I cannot overstate how much I listened to Ceremony of Opposites back in the day, and how well it holds up today against any mid-tempo black metal. This was Samael’s last foray into “traditional” metal before they went on to masterfully blend different genres on Passage, and if you listen to these two albums in succession, they almost play perfectly as a double-length concept album. Heavy, chills-inducing, and hypnotic, this is one of the 90’s best! Favorite track: Flagellation.

sashavonkarl74 My very first SAMAEL album, Thank you otog for buying this one and reminding me of them 🤘🏻🤘🏻 I was "young and naive" when I first listened to them, and aside from Celtic Frost, Samael was the first Swiss band that shocked me with their lyrics ... "the blessed whore and her bastard son..."... that may have started my anti-christian musical campaign :)) Favorite track: Till We Meet Again.

about

SAMAEL is one of the leading metal acts ever to emerge from Switzerland. The band has continuously pushed sonic boundaries and genre definitions with their atmospheric and sinister songs. This third album, released in 1994 was a major step forward in terms of songwriting, precision and focus. The original artwork by Eric Vuille was meticulously recreated from the first pressing and now features the correct SAMAEL logo for the first time ever – just like the band intended it to be. One of Rock Hard’s “500 best Rock & Metal Albums of All Time” now returns to your record collection in its ultimate edition.
