WhereToPark

Another step in building our service was to formulate potential positive impact on environment of our cities. WhereToPark helps drivers to easily find empty on-street parking spots saving time, money and nerves, in the process. We instinctively feel that if we can help drivers reduce search time, then we will also have positive impact on the environment of our cities. Well, instincts are just fine for water cooler conversations, but not good enough for building real services. We had a real challenge how to come up with something more precise than “back of the napkin” calculation and validate our instincts. We were thankful to see that Impact Hub team (thank you Aleksa Peruničić Giulia Berti and Gaia Montelatici (she/her) ) recognized both our positive environmental potential and our challenge and invited us to participate in West BalkanClim Accelerator 2023 in co-operation with EIT Climate KIC. Through a series of workshops, we learned a lot and managed to formulate and validate our impact hypothesis. We thank to Csaba Dudás in helping us learn how to use Impact Forecast tool to formulate and calculate our future impact. We were so happy to learn that our instincts we correct and that there is indeed a prospect of positive impact of service we are developing, as the calculations estimate potential yearly CO2eq reductions in the range of tens of thousands metric tons! Of course, this is just mathematics and to make that calculation a reality, we “only” /just have to build the community around our service. We cannot do it alone and we invite you to follow and support us on this journey. Together, we can not only save time for drivers but also make our cities nicer and greener places to live.
