PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Acumen

Acumen estate was founded on Napa Valley’s Atlas Peak by Eric Yuan with the help of founding winemaker Denis Malbec. Eric then brought in well-known winemaker Phillip Titus and renowned viticulturist Michael Wolf.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

McKahn Family Cellars

Owner and CEO Denise McKahn started her career in the world of wine in 1992 when she worked in the export department at Wente Vineyards. There’s truth in the old adage that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree: Her son Charles decided at the tender age of 15 that he wanted to become a winemaker.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Gandona Winery

Gandona Winery’s vintner and proprietor Manuel Pires learned about winemaking from his grandfather in the Douro Valley of Portugal. He says, “Inspired by my grandfather’s legacy I became single minded in my need to work the land and more aware that farming was in my blood. I decided the life of a vintner was the right path.”

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Pellet Estate

Pellet Estate’s history begins when Henry Alphonse Pellet was hired by John Patchett in 1859 and became Napa County’s second commercial winemaker. He followed in the footsteps of Charles Krug, who was the first and started the year before.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Selah, Blanton Family Vineyards

Selah owner and vintner Joe Blanton is in charge of operations at the winery and he is also most likely the person who will pour your wine when you schedule a tasting in Napa Valley.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Coup de Foudre

John started in the wine business in 1988 importing California wines into Japan and is currently the CEO at Coup de Foudre, where he oversees business operations and production.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Seavey Wines

The Seavey Estate consists of 200 acres of oak forest in which 40 acres are planted with grapevines. Seavey wines come exclusively from the estate of rugged hillside vineyard blocks, including the Seavey 2020 Caravina Cabernet Sauvignon featured in a recent installment of the 672 wine club.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Hersly Wines

Adam Hersly knows the adage there’s no rest for the weary all too well. He has two full time jobs: one as the winemaker at Hersly Wines and the other in product operations at Google.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Okapi Wines

Dan and Kim Johnson transformed an overgrown walnut orchard into a vineyard in 2016. Their 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon, a featured 672 wine, is a special release from their library. It’s an exclusive for 672 members and is not available online, at their winery, or anywhere else.

Buoncristiani Brothers of Buoncristiani Family Winery

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Buoncristiani Family Winery

Winemaking at Buoncristiani Family Winery is most definitely a family affair. Brothers Nate, Jay, and Matt Buoncristiani were born and raised in Napa and started making wine as a hobby in their parents’ garage. Once they started winning awards at local wine competitions, they decided to turn their hobby into a business.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

J. Moss Winery

Texas native James Moss got his start in the wine business working in sales for a wine distributor in Dallas. He eventually moved to Napa and began working for a new distributor, and “got the wine bug shortly thereafter.”  He began making wine and his first vintage of Merlot in 1998, which he and his wife (and business partner) Janet served to guests at their wedding celebration at Domaine Carneros.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

La Sirena

Winemaker Heidi Peterson Barrett is well known for crafting 100 (Robert Parker) point wines for Screaming Eagle in 1992 and 1997. She started her own label, La Sirena, in 1994. The first year she produced a wine made from Sangiovese, and she added La Sirena Cabernet Sauvignon in 1996. Today, she creates stellar wines with the help of her family.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Bravante Vineyards

George and Nancy Bravante made their first vintage of Bravante in 1995.  They both work in the day-to-day business of producing wine from grapes grown on their two vineyards which total 12 acres.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Morgado Cellars

Kimberly Hatcher is the winemaker and owner of Morgado Cellars, but what most people don’t know is that she is also a San Francisco firefighter and has been for 25 years.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Kidd Ranch Vineyard

Owner and Winemaker Paul Skinner received his PhD in Soil Science in 1988 and swore he wanted nothing to do with owning a vineyard and producing wine. That all changed when he had the opportunity to buy a portion of Kidd Ranch Vineyard.

PRODUCER SPOTLIGHT

Buselli Family Vineyard

When Italo and Rosalia Buselli bought a tract of land on the east side of Napa Valley in 1990, they could hardly have imagined that their grapes would end up in some of the region’s most highly sought after, limited production wines, including their 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon.
