Has anyone ever met a leader who was swayed to care about developer motivation by this type of haranguing? Or ever changed their mind at all? It's a binary worldview that stems from something far away from software. Some leaders (CTOs, CEOs, whatever) believe that all devs are cogs, they are easily replaceable, should be replaceable, they need to take their Jira tasks and STFU, that understanding motivations is annoying, that measuring inputs is how someone's productivity should be judged. Other leaders see unlocking developer and group motivation to be the KEY to higher productivity and how to beat the former worldview at its own game. Here, one measures outputs and creates niches or pods or group dynamics that allow people the space and time and mental clarity to crush it like DHH lays out. I don't think I've ever met a leader who has been reformed on this topic. Never met someone from the first group who could consider an alternative to increasing output other than to add more tasks and responsibilities. Don't send this clip to your boss if they are in the former group. It's more likely you get your head cut off than induce any real change in your org.

Here's how I scrape anything and send that data anywhere. In this case, how I automatically scrape Amazon deals and create a post on FB about it. And I only these 2 free nocode tools. - Automa: To scrape data from websites - Make.com: To do something with that data Here's how it works: 1. First the Automa workflow "goes" to a link (the Amazon deals list) 2. Then, it clicks on a product and extracts the title, price, image, etc. 3. Afterwards, that data gets sent to Make.com 4. Here the data is cleaned up if needed 5. And finally it creates a post on a FB page with the product info Of course, once the data is in Make you can do whatever you want with it. This is just one of the many use-cases. And I actually recorded a step-by-step guide on how to create this exact automation. Just comment "bazinga" and I'll send it over. (We need to be connected)

If you regularly post on LinkedIn you noticed that they recently changed their recommendation algorithms and number of views (impressions) for posts you published last few weeks significantly dropped. Based on my own feed, which suddenly started to show 2-3 weeks old content, I guess the updates with the most recent content in the recommenders were screwed up. As a Data Scientist with more than a decade of experience I suggest you to do following steps: 1. Go and enjoy your life offline. 2. If you fill the urge to share your thoughts, call your old friend, parents, children, etc. 3. If you experience FOMO, make sure you go to every important linkend account you follow and click 🔔 (notification system still works very well) 4. And now go and enjoy your life offline!
