With 2024 winding down, it’s the perfect time to reflect on the journey we’ve had this year. One highlight was opening two new offices in Silicon Valley—at Plug and Play Tech Center and Hero City at Draper University, two of the world’s most renowned startup accelerators and innovation hubs. Being immersed in such a vibrant ecosystem of innovators constantly inspires us. It’s clear that for many of them, it’s not 𝙞𝙛 but 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 they’ll transform the world. Last week, our CEO & Founder, Daniel Ilinca, embarked on another tour of the East Coast, meeting with customers and partners. This milestone is particularly meaningful: over the past 12 months, Daniel has spent more than a third of his time in the U.S., reflecting our deep commitment to fostering strong partnerships. Romania stands out as one such country, frequently ranking among the best in global student computing contests. However, it’s not alone—many Western European universities also compete at the highest levels. Interestingly, at the high school level, international computer science competitions are often dominated by Eastern European countries such as Romania, Poland, Ukraine, and Serbia. Yet, as these brilliant students move on to college, many choose to study in Western countries, contributing to those nations' increased competitiveness in university rankings. 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗮, already trusted by global tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe, Oracle, Stripe, and others, 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. With its immense potential, the country is well-positioned to evolve into a leading global R&D tech hub, capable of attracting back top talent who initially moved west for education and opportunities. 𝗪𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗖𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁, where we connected with the latest innovations and gained insights into the ever-evolving tech ecosystem we’re proud to be part of. 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝗮𝗦𝘁𝗿, an event that brought together 10,000 Cloud and SaaS founders, VCs, and executives under one roof—a true powerhouse of networking and learning opportunities. During the recent Talk by Softbinator #181, Marius Dumitran, highlighted a pressing issue: the migration of many brilliant high school students to foreign universities. Despite this trend, our local universities boast a strong computer science curriculum, often ranking far higher than their universities' overall international positions. We have already brought to attention how Romania’s incredible 7th spot in the all-time rankings of the International Olympiad in Informatics speaks volumes about our potential. But 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗳 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆! Softbinator has a history working with the University of Bucharest to implement initiatives that can make a difference. This enriches the learning experience and ensures curricula remains aligned with the latest developments in technology. • 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴-𝗘𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Access to state-of-the-art technology is essential for preparing them for real-world challenges. Equipping them with tools and technologies they will encounter in their future jobs ensures they are not only innovative but also job-ready, bridging the gap between academic learning and professional practice. • 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Supporting top-performing students takes many forms—from scholarships and mentorship to organizing networking events where they can exchange ideas with peers can encourage students to pursue their passions further. • 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗢𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The Romanian tech ecosystem still has room for the emergence of unicorn companies or world tech leaders.
