Global Perspectives — On the 28th of November, Americans across the United States gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, a tradition dating back to the 17th century. This holiday, centred around gratitude and community, brings families and friends together for a shared meal. In 2023, food banks reported a 15% increase in demand, reflecting the economic hardships many face. Despite challenges, Thanksgiving remains a symbol of togetherness and generosity, with over 46 million turkeys expected to be served this year. The holiday encourages reflection on what we are thankful for, as well as the importance of giving back to those in need, whether through food donations or community support. Humanitarian Assistance – We recently supported the Brazilian embassy in Paris with a humanitarian initiative to assist flood victims in Rio Grande do Sul. These floods, which occurred between April and May, left many in urgent need of help. In collaboration with the group Brasil na França pelo RS (Brazil in France for Rio Grande do Sul) and LATAM Airlines Group, Santa Fe transported one and a half tonnes of donations—including clothes, shoes, toys, and hygiene products—from a warehouse in the Paris region to Charles de Gaulle Airport. We also managed the administrative procedures for exporting the goods from France, all on a pro bono basis. In the words of the Brazilian embassy: "The Embassy thanks and congratulates the group 'Brasil na França pelo RS', which collected the donations, as well as the company Santa Fe Relocation and the airline LATAM Airlines Group, responsible for transport to Brazil. Many thanks to all who contributed to this valuable humanitarian aid." Immigration Insights — During the Holiday season, understanding French temporary immigration documents is essential for ensuring compliance and smooth cross-border mobility. Not all documents issued by prefectures or through the ANEF platform grant the same rights. Some, like the récépissé for permit renewals or an autorisation provisoire de séjour (APS), allow Schengen travel or re-entry to France. Others, like the attestation de dépôt for first stay permits, may not authorise travel at all.
