An end-of-year review is an important time for startups to sit down, put pen to paper, and take stock of things that went well and didn’t go so well the previous year. Alexandra Kammer is the co-founder and chief diversity officer at Aivy, a recruiting software company aiming to help companies achieve better candidate selection. WOW! This is huge! 🚀 The American company Databricks, whose founders include two Romanian-born IT specialists, has reached an estimated value of 62 billion dollars following the most recent round of investment it attracted. The "Decacorn," which develops data and artificial intelligence technologies, announced it is raising a Series J investment round totaling $10 billion, of which it has secured $8.6 billion. The investors participating in the funding include investment funds such as Thrive Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, DST Global, GIC, Insight Partners and, WCM Investment Management, and other backers. This takes Databricks from $43 billion, the value at which it had been valued by investors following a $500 million funding round in 2023, to $62 billion, the company's valuation at the time of the investment now. ✨ Databricks was founded in 2013 by a group of professors at the University of California, Berkeley. The company develops database technologies, and its founders include the company's CEO, Swedish-born Ali Ghodsi, as well as two Romanian-born computer scientists: Ion Stoica (the company's executive chairman) and Matei Zaharia (chief technology officer - CTO). 👏👏👏 Congrats! #DataBricks #Investment

In 2024, Romania’s AI innovation ecosystem showcased intriguing developments, highlighted by FintechOS’s €55.2M funding round. Though total investments so far are €28M less than 2023, there’s potential to exceed last year’s record. Notable rounds include FilmChain’s €2.8M seed and Genezio’s €1.8M pre-seed, cementing Romania as one of the top three CEE countries with 13.6% of AI startups.
