JobID: 4628 Position Type: Human Resources/Human Resources Specialist Date Posted: 12/1/2023 Location: Administrative Service Center, Round Lake, IL The role of the Human Resources Specialist is one that is accountable for performing a full range of complex support and technical duties relating to the District’s human resource management program such as providing administrative assistance to the Director of Human Resources in the areas of licensure, staffing/position control, and state reporting/compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the assignment and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
Implement and apply bargaining unit contracts and assist in communication of contract provisions; Assist the Director of Human Resources in staffing selection, work assignment decisions, and HR strategy; Initiate and implement process improvements in various HR functions; Maintain and update staffing/position control, FTE records, temporary employment records, data and files; Assist the Director of Human Resources with licensure and certification for all employees and facilitate communication, correspondence and presentations of licensure and certification; Oversee the hiring process for all new hires, plus salary placement and job offers non-administrator levels positions; Prepare and maintain employment contracts and employee assignment and staffing correspondence; Prepare and maintain Board of Education Personnel Reports; Prepare and disseminate correspondence on Board of Education personnel matters; Regularly assist and act in a confidential capacity to the Director of Human Resources and have regular access to information relating to contracts and collective bargaining matters; Compose and prepare correspondence, forms, reports, spreadsheets, presentations and documents as directed; Prepare and revise salary schedule data and export salary data into spreadsheets and reports as directed; Schedule appointments and meet and communicate with staff regarding onboarding and employment paperwork; Oversee, update and maintain employee onboarding and hiring paperwork to ensure alignment with policies and legal requirements; Oversee district unemployment claims and coordinate records, data and information for unemployment claims; Oversee student teaching placement and processing; Maintain all staffing data, staffing changes and records in employee information system data base; Work collaboratively and effectively with the Teaching & Learning, Technology, Student Services, and Business Office departments and other HR personnel in ensuring effective customer service, and accuracy with employee data, records and processing of all employee information, data system set-ups, terms and changes; Crosstrain on all HR Specialist duties; Oversee the susbstitute program; Perform tasks with minimal supervision while serving as a resource and role model for other support staff; Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The following identifies the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are essential for the Human Resources Specialist (this is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties).
Considerable knowledge of public personnel administration including recruitment, selection, classification, salary administration, employee relations, affirmative action, employee benefits, and workers compensation and payroll processes; Serve as a role model to the support staff; Strong organization skills; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Strong skills in working with numerical data; Ability to work independently and perform tasks assigned with minimal supervision; Excellent technology skills.
Strong skills and experience with Excel, presentation software, Word, Google Drive/Google Docs; Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; Authentic initiative and ownership of complete project work; and High degree of professionalism and customer service skills.
Required Qualifications & Experience: An Associate's Degree and/or Bachelor’s Degree human resources management or other closely related field.
Two (2) years of professional experience in human resources involving the full employee life cycle including recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, compliance, onboarding, retirement, employee relations, or employee benefits.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
Incumbents are expected to be current in Federal and State employment law and other subjects related to the field of human resources support Note: The above statements are intended to describe the essential functions and related requirements of persons assigned to this job.

Reports To: This job assignment falls under the direction of the Director of Human Resources.
Salary: $62,459.
