Last Friday we started Entrepreneurship and Innovation classes as part of the Masters in Finance and Taxation at ISLA - Instituto Politécnico de Gestão e Tecnologia. What a great group 🙂 To find the starting point, we worked with MBA (Mindset Behavior Analysis), a tool developed within the SHINE network (https://shine-project.eu/). Thanks, Paul Coyle for igniting this project! "MBAs are online tools designed to introduce the concept of the entrepreneurial mindset and its application in higher education. Each MBA stimulates a process of self-reflection, supports action planning and aids decision-making about future priorities."

This is the 3rd edition of the Actuarial Fair, an event promoted by the Master's in Actuarial Mathematics (MMAct) that brings together the academic community and the risk management industry. This gathering is only possible thanks to the vision and support of our sponsors. Although the MMAct is only in its 4th edition, its greatest ambassadors are its alumni, who since the 1st edition have demonstrated that the much-desired partnership between theory and practice is achievable, generating significant benefits for students, academia as a whole, and the industry—represented here by our market-leading sponsors. Lusitania, Mercer, WTW, PwC, Fidelidade Undoubtedly, it is a demanding endeavor. The MMAct scientific committee works tirelessly to ensure an updated program with theoretical and practical components that, recognizably, rival the best international schools. For the students, the challenge lies in keeping up with a rigorous syllabus that reflects the current demands placed on actuaries. As for the sponsors, the partnership proposed by the MMAct requires careful alignment with their vision and goals. The results speak for themselves, unequivocally benefiting students, sponsors, and academia.

🇵🇹 🛑 🧮 🦄 This is a story about why in Portugal we must stop counting unicorns. Suspension of disbelief is critical for #startup success. We need to be bold in imagining and creating the future 🚀 However, imagination only produces fairy tales, to create true value we need execution. Getting millions in funding 💰 is an amazing tool to achieve growth 📈 Getting millions in funding is no success metric. 🙅‍♂️ Getting millions in funding to get thousands in revenue is the definition of a bad investment and a bad business. I challenge the 🇵🇹 #startup ecosystem and all its stakeholders to stop counting unicorns and start counting millions (of revenue). Read my opinion piece in Jornal Economico (in Portuguese)
