Our journey with the Better Mobility Accelerator funded by EIT Urban Mobility has taken us from Vienna to Lisbon, and the experience here has been nothing short of transformative. For Smart Serial Number™, being part of the second phase of the BMA program in Portugal is especially meaningful, as the country holds a key position in the global bicycle industry. With a significant share of bicycles being manufactured or assembled here, Lisbon has proven to be the perfect place to push forward our mission. At the core of our efforts is the digital product passport. A tool we believe will redefine the industry by connecting every stakeholder of the value chain, from manufacturing to recycling. During these last few days, we had the chance to bring our solution to life by engaging with end consumers who tested the digital passport in real-world scenarios. Their feedback was not only encouraging but also a powerful reminder of the importance of creating a secure and transparent cycling experience. Consumers felt safer knowing their bike’s history was traceable, and confident they could resell it with ease. These are the moments that fuel our passion for what we do. Our experience in Lisbon wasn’t just about consumer insights; it was also about building connections and learning from other innovators. We had the opportunity to visit Unicorn Factory Lisboa, where we explored their ecosystem and saw first-hand the groundbreaking projects they’re nurturing. It’s clear that Portugal is a hub of innovation, and being part of this environment was truly inspiring. We also met with Bynd Venture Capital who opened our eyes to the intricacies of the Portuguese investment landscape. Their insights into fundraising and the unique characteristics of this market were invaluable as we plan our next steps. The conversation was a great reminder that innovation thrives when it's supported by strong investor ecosystems. These last three days have been a whirlwind of activity, full of engaging conversations, and surrounded by a community of forward-thinkers. We owe a huge thanks to the entire BMA team; Claudia, Andre, Patrick, Tanja Punz, João Bernardino and Lina Mosshammer, and everyone who made this experience so impactful. It’s difficult to capture the full energy of these three days, but suffice it to say that we’re leaving Lisbon more inspired than ever. As we continue our time in Portugal, we’re eager to deepen our connections with manufacturers, brands, and investors. Today marks the start of Shimano Fest, the largest cycling industry event in Latin America! We are thrilled to announce that Smart Serial Number™ has been selected as one of the 12 startups, out of 401, to join this dynamic six-month program supported by EIT Urban Mobility and hosted by Impact Hub Vienna. Represented by Gilles De Moor and Daniel Wenzel Mendes, Smart Serial Number is now part of a program that offers access to invaluable resources, industry partners, international experts, and mentors specializing in mobility and innovation. Participants also connected with mobility, impact, and inclusion investors and explored various funding and ecosystem opportunities. Throughout the week, we engaged in insightful workshops on mobility solutions, sparking innovative discussions and ideas. Guided walks provided firsthand experiences of Vienna's urban mobility scene, igniting lively conversations about potential improvements and fresh solutions. The week concluded with the opportunity to network at the #ViennaUP startup event, allowing us to expand our horizons and build valuable connections.
