NOTE ON GPS SUPPORT: Strava depends on GPS for recording activities. In some devices, the GPS does not work properly and Strava will not record effectively. If your Strava recordings show poor location estimation behavior, please try to update the operating system to the most recent version. There are some devices which have consistently poor performance with no known remedies. On these devices, we restrict installation of Strava, for example the Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 and the Galaxy Express 2. I actually use MapMyRun as my main fitness app. I use Strava because of a running group that uses this for all their group runs. It's horrible. You can't do anything without an uograde screen popping up. The UI is not intuitive at all. To top it off, it takes about 15 steps in some random sequence to even view your recorded run route full screen. I'll keep using it for this group, but would never use it as my only fitness app. Only plus over MMR, was able to edit my recorded route in the app.

Subscription pricing is unreasonable and very basic features ( like let me see my fastest time) locked behind paywall. I found using without a subscription very tedious and do not recommend unless planning to subscribe (but don't lol) Eta: 11.19 account deleted. Woof it just got worse, I'm sure that trajectory is locked in. Better alternatives now exist.

The app inspires competition with rankings, but makes no effort to eliminate obvious cheaters. The top ranked person (so far) for the "November 5k x Brooks" challenge "ran" 8.8 kilometers with a 0:35/km average pace. That speed is over 60mph, or about 103 kilometers per hour. That would be sustaining a speed three times faster than Usain Bolt's WR 100m for a whole 5k. This should be easily fixable. A short script to eliminate anyone running faster than world record 100m pace would do it.
