The latest release of the tools for Graal Development Kit for Micronaut (GDK) brings with it some great updates. Most notably the release of the Graal Cloud Native Launcher for IntelliJ Idea, VisualVM support for VS Code and a rename of the extensions that provide support for the Micronaut® framework. GDK is the new name for what was previously known as Graal Cloud Native. Our VS Code extensions will undergo a rename in the near future, but for now they still use their old Graal Cloud Native names. You can read more about this name change here. Our tools support the latest version of the Micronaut framework, version 4.3.7, in both the GDK launcher and the launcher for Micronaut framework. With the release of PostgreSQL17, the database community is buzzing over a pivotal new feature: incremental backup, developed by EDB VP, Chief Database Scientist Robert Haas. On the last day of PGConf.EU, Postgres enthusiasts packed the conference room to hear Robert talk about Incremental Backup, how it works, plus use cases for the feature and possible future work in this area. As you have probably seen in earlier posts, the preview version of MariaDB Vector is out and ready for you to play with. We have had input from several different places during the development of this feature. This, of course, includes hardware manufacturers such as Intel Corporation. In the background, #Intel have been prototyping using #AVX512 instructions for dot product and bloom filter.
