Idea of the day: 1–2 years is very little 1. Turnover has increased so much that programmers now work in companies for only 1–2 years. Of which they spend up to six months just to get up to speed and start working at full capacity ☹️ And this also depends on the state in which the programmers leaving the company left their work. 2. It turns out that companies have become critically in need of platforms that would support the “circle of programmers in nature” - that is, they would help in the transfer of work and knowledge from resigning employees to newly hired ones. 3. Since the number of programmers is already about 30 million, this is a huge market.

⚖ Striking the perfect balance: budget management in agile software development. In the fast-paced world of software development, finding the equilibrium between innovation and fiscal responsibility is paramount. Agile methodologies have revolutionized the way teams approach project management, emphasizing adaptability and collaboration. However, maintaining this delicate balance between budget constraints and the integration of new features can be challenging. Here are some key strategies to effectively manage budgets while fostering innovation in Agile software development: 🔑 Prioritize features: Utilize techniques like MoSCoW (Must have, Should have, Could have, Won't have) to prioritize features based on their criticality to the project's success. By focusing on must-have features first, teams can ensure that essential functionality is delivered within budget constraints. 📊 Iterative development: Break down the project into smaller iterations or sprints, each delivering incremental value. This approach allows for continuous feedback and adjustment, ensuring that budgetary considerations are integrated throughout the development process. 📈 Continuous planning and monitoring: Regularly revisit project budgets and forecasts to identify potential risks and opportunities for optimization. By maintaining transparency and open communication, teams can address budgetary concerns proactively and make informed decisions about feature prioritization. 📌 Embrace lean principles: Adopt lean practices to minimize waste and maximize value delivery. Encourage cross-functional collaboration and empower teams to streamline processes, reduce overhead, and eliminate non-essential features or functionalities. 📮 Risk management: Identify and mitigate potential risks early in the project lifecycle. By conducting thorough risk assessments and contingency planning, teams can avoid costly delays and budget overruns associated with unforeseen challenges. 🧒 Customer feedback: Solicit feedback from end-users throughout the development process to ensure that features align with their needs and expectations. By incorporating customer input iteratively, teams can prioritize features that deliver the most value and maximize return on investment. Photo by Loic Leray on Unsplash

I am excited to share that I have successfully passed the Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) certification from Scrum.org. This certification validates my knowledge of the Scrum framework and my ability to support and enable value creation and delivery. Earning PSPO I shows my understanding of how to bridge the gap between strategy and agile product management in order to create valuable products using Scrum.

Being a great engineer is about much more than mastering a tech stack. Yesterday, during a discussion about the profile for a senior position on one of our teams, the Product Owner emphasized the importance of people skills/soft skills that can often outweigh technical expertise. She put it clearly: “If we have to choose between someone who knows tool X but can’t communicate with stakeholders, or someone who excels at stakeholder communication but doesn’t know tool X, we’ll go with the latter.” This is a critical point: Technical skills are essential, but they will only take an engineer so far. To truly stand out, a great engineer also needs to: * Collaborate effectively in teams * Approach problems from a business perspective * Persuade and influence others * Speak the language of stakeholders * Step up and lead when needed It’s this combination of soft and hard skills that elevates an engineer to the next level. The list goes way beyond that. What other skills would you add to the list?

Nothing more to say: We`re agile... finally! So I would ask: What's in it for the customer? Remember, the first principle of the Agile Manifesto is delivering valuable software early and continuously, ensuring customer satisfaction. It’s time to cut through the buzz and get serious. Agility is a MINDSET, not just a methodology. Are we truly agile or merely performing? Stop the "agility theater": Is your organization ready to genuinely embrace the agile mindset and prioritize continuous value delivery to your customers? #unblurred #reality

Agile is not working ... if you feel it so you need to dive deep what it actually means. #ScrumImpulz 2024 is the place to be for such deep dive 🤓 👍 My first enlightenment regarding agile approach to the development of digital products came when I attended Scrum Master and Product Master workshops held by Dusan Kocurek in 2011 or 2012. Therefore, I am super proud to have the opportunity to run a workshop on the ScrumImpulz conference by ScrumDesk under the flag of WageNow team. These days, more than before, we see that the agile approach is often being challenged as companies look for savings and layoffs. To me it seems that the responsibility for bringing the best value to our customers what shifted just to "being agile". I believe in universal pragmaticism and clarity of principles coming for the agile manifesto and the need to revisit what it actually means for our teams and collaboration - not only on the level of engineering teams but company-wide. Revisit how we own it and how we execute it. I am especially looking forward to Scaling the by Tomáš Porazil and Backlogs are making us slow by Vasco Duarte but not only. See you next Wednesday 🙂. It's still time to grab a ticket 😉. #agile #conference #scrumimpuls #slovakia

Here's a short(ish) explainer on EPAM's skills profiles. I describe where they're found (and why), how they look, and what they show. Skills profiles are editable by individuals in the List view, but I didn't go into detail on that it bc that will take time to explain and I was already near 10min. If this is your first video, I've posted a couple of others (Architecture, Governance) and will post more as I have time. I also have several articles on LI about how EPAM validates skills, what is our culture, what do we mean by skills, and some other topics. LMK if you have questions! #skillsbasedorganization #hrtech #skills

What is important is not to know #agile, #scrum, #waterfall. We should not focus on applying them with 100% precision. Instead, we must aim for effective #productdevelopment. We should meet #customers needs. We should satisfy our customers. We should respond market at the right time with the right product and features. Of course, along the way, we should have #engaged and #motivated team.
