At Teva, we understand everyday care for patients not only as providing them with high-quality medicines, but also caring for the safety and well-being of patients and providing them with support. For several years, Teva has been organizing a competition called Humanizing Health in many countries, and its Polish edition is now starting - Let's treat with care! The title of the competition speaks for itself - we would like to appreciate the support offered to patients in the difficult process of illness and recovery. We know that commitment and empathy can have a therapeutic effect, which is why we want to remind about this and reward organizations that provide care to patients and their loved ones. 💚 Competition Let's treat with care! is addressed to non-profit organizations, foundations and associations. We are waiting until September 15 for their applications, presenting a project implemented from the beginning of 2023 to mid-May 2024. The winners, i.e. creators of initiatives that bring hope, optimism and comfort to patients, will receive grants for their further activities. Some of the fantastic managers, I had in my career, who shared excellent feedback about myself and areas of improvements needed, because of which, I could make progression professionally. However, I have also experienced and having seen colleagues' experience in the past, many managers have an abrupt understanding of this topic , which ends in a toxic environment of work and leads to work in silos and separation, especially during the performance evaluation period. So, here is my small attempt to address the pink elephant in the room. Feedback isn't a onetime formality, but it's a continuous procedure and it has to be shared from an improvement perspective but not to blame the recipient. Feedback is how we can make things better together v/s Recipient is the problem. says, criticism. Feedback takes reference from past mistakes however focuses on the future and inspires recipient versus. Criticism only talks about what went wrong in the past and how the recipient ruined it. Feedback, many times, builds, the strength of that individual and creates a sense of "oneness", whereas criticism focused on weakness and leads to mental distress. It's important to keep Emotional Quotient high while having such sessions, as ultimately, recipients are human beings. It's time to stop throwing recipients under the bus in the name of feedback and it is reviewer's duty is to do correct evaluation, when manager shares feedback about recipient.

Kiera Mehigan Dom Faulkner and I had a great two days at the recent CluePoints Ignyte event in Warsaw and participated in a number of lively and informative discussions. Our key takeaways were: - Unlocking RBQM value requires double down on upstream Quality By Design and Critical To Quality factors - Data-driven monitoring and moves towards Zero SDV are here, but ‘old habits die hard’ - Data query volume remains a considerable burden for sites, and is a key target for Risk Based Data Cleaning and more integrated data review - Audit Trail Review is emerging as another potentially powerful tool in identifying systemic study issues   There was strong agreement that change management continues to be the number 1 barrier to successful adoption of RBQM across industry. In our presentation, we shared our view that this can be better handled if we start to think ‘BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES’ of any one platform (eg CDMS and RBQM). In our experience, what starts to happen well when you manage change across transformations is: - Co-development of ‘cross-over’ processes such as SDV, removing gaps and silos - An overarching narrative and sequencing of messaging that follows more natural role boundaries - Reduced change fatigue by prioritising and sequencing changes across roles, operating models and technologies     We know there is no silver bullet here, but guiding frameworks, tools and experience can help structure change more effectively. Medical breakthroughs like eradicating cancer and restoring vision to those in need may be closer than you think.   I recently joined @IMPACT CEE, the leading innovation-focused conference in Central and Eastern Europe, and was privileged to represent #mycompany on the main stage in Poland to share our perspective about where medicine is going. Artificial intelligence (AI) and cell and gene therapies stand at the forefront of healthcare innovation and could be game-changers in personalizing medicine to improve, extend or even save lives. J&J’s research teams are making exciting progress every day in advancing these cutting-edge therapies.   Using AI algorithms, we can analyse vast data sets such as medical records, genomic information, and real-time health data, to identify patterns and make increasingly accurate predictions to inform decision making for personalised treatments. The latest cell and gene therapies allow us to restore damaged tissues or organs and treat genetic disorders by modifying or replacing faulty genes.   At IMPACT, leaders from the public and private sectors joined forces with a commitment to fostering innovations which advance our society. If we can hold onto that collaborative energy, we could bring the full potential of digital opportunities to benefit patients across Europe. Although innovation is increasingly giving us the tools to match the right treatments with patients who need them most, many healthcare systems will require further investment and evolution to be able to deliver these treatments.   We must strengthen our data infrastructure and include more patient and physician perspectives in healthcare decisions. We also need to continue collaborating with policy makers, regulators, and reimbursement bodies to broaden patient access across Europe.   Patients are waiting. Let’s build on the momentum and make it happen.

Another book recommendation from my side and many thanks to Piotr Kciuk for the reco in the past. I recommend “Exercised: Why Something We Never Evolved to Do Is Healthy and Rewarding” by Daniel E. Lieberman. Book covers a wide range of exercise-related topics, including: 1. Evolutionary Perspective on Exercise: Lieberman explains how humans evolved to be physically active when necessary, but not to exercise voluntarily for health. 2. Myths about Exercise: The book debunks common myths, such as whether running ruins your knees or if sitting is the new smoking. 3. Types of Physical Activity: It discusses various forms of physical activity, including walking, running, weight lifting, dancing, and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and their benefits. 4. Health Benefits: Lieberman explores how different types of exercise can reduce the risk of diseases like diabetes and cardiovascular issues. 5. Today I gave the last FINANCIAL WELL-BEING webinar for my colleagues in IQVIA Slovakia. It was a part of general wellbeing sessions organized by Veronika Sivová. The goal of my Financial Wellbeing part was to increase the financial literacy of our non-finance colleagues (although some Finance people attended as well). All webinars were offered both in English and Slovak with 35 to 90 attendees per session. Topics covered during a few months: (1) Personal financial health, (2) Relation between the financial and mental health, (3) How money impact our partnership, (4) Irrationality of human economic decisions, (5) Living happily with debt, (6) To buy or to rent a house? (7) Managing the mortgage through decades, (8) Are we paid fairly? (9) Four pillars of the Slovak pension system, (10) Investment savings - when to start? (11) Family budget - do we have enough money to invest? I gladly contributed this way to the financial health of my colleagues and I appreciate their interest a lot. Let's continue after the summer!
