Overview of Hungarian Payroll Tax Reporting Each country has its own payroll taxes. In Hungary there are two employee taxes (personal income tax and health insurance tax) and an employer tax (social security tax). The employee taxes are paid by the employer in the name of the employees each months. Each Hungarian Payroll Tax has to be paid each month and it has to be in line with Hungary's laws and regulations. Finance horror story…. Controllers, finance professionals, we've all encountered this. Traveling employees, ignoring all rules and common sense, asking for reimbursement of non-professional or completely inappropriate expenses. What's the most ridiculous or egregious expense story you've been asked to reimburse? No names of individuals or companies, please. Mine in the first comment

It's not often that I take to LinkedIn to share but sometimes certain events leave me speechless, prompting me to speak about them and share 😵 First things first: I am open to new exciting job opportunities and always eager to gain new perspectives, even if that means "only" talking to companies and other experts, thus it should not be a surprise that I'm occasionally also talking to headhunters or recruiters.... this is where things get interesting. I had been contacted by that same recruiter already in the past and while we hadn't the same expectations earlier I was intrigued by the interesting sounding offer. The timeline below however should trigger me for this post: 5th Feb: I was proactively contacted by the recruiter and responded in the evening of the same day that I was open for an initial call 16th Feb afternoon (Friday): Response by the recruiter that a call would be feasible on the 20th (basically giving me one working day to respond, which in all fairness I am fine with if granted the same promptness by the company) 20th Feb: Call, in which NO specifics of the role nor potential salary ranges were disclosed as "this was the role of the hiring manager" (...But why did the recruiter schedule this call in the first place then? Time is money and I don't like mine being wasted). At the end she at least promised to get back to me until the 26th Feb COB 6th March: I check in with her as I haven't heard anything back. Same day answer that she will check with the hiring manager. 22nd April: Response from the recruiter: Non-personal; high level; wrong information (i.e. "Hoffen, dass sie sich erneut bewerben" even though I myself hadn't applied to anything yet) Result of this "process": I will never engage in any interaction with said company or any recruiters again and I will likely disrecommend anyone from applying there if asked. For me it is utter unprofessional behavior to i) expect transparency and prompt responses from potential future employees but ii) fail to act upon those same principles. This behavior actually produces a bitter aftertaste as the candidate is left with the belief that this is normal behavior in the company, which is THE perfect example of a RED FLAG. Happy to hear your interview stories or thoughts. ;)

Beyond the month-end close, balance sheets and ledgers, individuals within accounting often struggle to find themselves within the profession. The journey from novice to seasoned accountant is not just about mastering the technical aspects but also about defining one's identity within a field that demands both versatility and specialization. 1. The Duality of Identity:   - Accountants often find themselves straddling two worlds—the technical and the personal. While they are trained to be meticulous in their calculations and analysis, they are also human beings with multifaceted identities. This duality can lead to an internal conflict as they navigate between their professional persona and their personal aspirations. 2. The Pressure to Specialize:   - In a rapidly evolving financial world, there is an increasing pressure on accountants to specialize. Whether it's in tax, audit, forensic accounting, or management consultancy, the demand for niche expertise is tangible. Which do you prefer hybrid, remote, or onsite work and why? Hybrid which is delegation of time between in office and at home offers the perfect compromise between employer and employee. Remote which is 100% home can possibly require you to come in one a month, one per quarter, or just for special meetings. If an individual is committed to performing with excellence, they will continue with that excellence no matter the setting.

Tax laws are like dictionaries. An average native English speaker might have up to 35,000 word families in their vocabulary. That's only around 13% of the 273,000 headwords that exist. As a tax practitioner, you also don't need to know every detail of the tax legislation, just as a native English speaker doesn't know every word in the dictionary. You only need to be familiar with the top '10%' of the legislation that is most relevant to your specialization, and, of course, know how to locate the rest when necessary.
