How can you develop resilience after a project fails?
One thing I have found helpful is to ask oneself a few basic questions, which could help in building a conviction that can help one to practice resilience assertively. I am referring to when apparently an effort has failed in accomplishing a task. These questions revolve around the basic values that one adheres to. Are we still maintaining values? If an outcome is not what we intended for, aren’t there other ways to accomplish? Most importantly what is the lesson from this apparent failure? Was this failure meant to make me learn something critical, which I wouldn’t have been able to learn had I not failed? The key is looking for an opportunity every time we fail. No exception.

How can contingency theory help you manage team conflicts and challenges?
While Contingency theory and framework are universal concepts, they are almost mandatory to be adopted in the complex healthcare management. One of the biggest challenges is the multi-specialty sciences and professions interacting almost daily - physicians, nurses, IT, Safety, Supply Chain, Maintenance, Engineering, Biomedical. Almost daily these people interact and unless we utilize the basic need of situation analysis we might waste a lot of time in conflict resolution. Approaching all issues with inputs from all stakeholders and considering the specific situation in hand, will help in not only resolving the matter at hand but also develop team dynamics in terms of collaboration and cooperation avoiding any status implications.

How can you make more mindful decisions as a leader?
One aspect that we often neglect in the busy life these days is introspection as an integral component of mindfulness. Taking out time for oneself and talking to oneself on the different perspectives that are in hand for a particular issue or matter. It helps. Later make notes of the introspection phase. It really helps in being in one’s self company. It is helpful in most matters in hand. Sometimes a session with oneself may lead to set of queries only, which require follow up and revisit and further mindfulness sessions to focus better and move forward.
