Based on my experience, here are some key dos and don'ts for aspiring AI professionals: Don'ts: 1. Don't limit yourself to a single learning resource 2. Avoid focusing solely on short-term gains 3. Don't be rigid in your approach; explore various technologies and improvements 4. Avoid concentrating on just one aspect (e.g., math, statistics, coding, SQL, Power BI, ML, CNN, or GenAI) 5. Don't spend all your time on social media; balance it with study and practice Dos: 1. Establish a structured schedule 2. Build a strong foundation in mathematics and statistics 3. Combine study with hands-on practice 4. Stay updated on the latest AI technologies and models through articles and documentation 5. Maintain an active online presence (GitHub, LinkedIn, Reddit, Discord, Facebook) 6. Develop sample projects and create a compelling portfolio 7. In 2024, AI is making a big impact on businesses in Pakistan. It’s helping various industries, such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and business operations, to work more efficiently. For example, AI is helping doctors give accurate diagnoses, making learning more personalized in schools, predicting crop yields for farmers, and automating customer service for businesses. But, Pakistan faces some challenges in adopting AI. These include not having the right infrastructure, not having enough skilled workers, legal and ethical concerns, poor data quality, and not enough financial support for AI companies. To overcome these challenges, Pakistan can learn from countries like the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. They can develop better infrastructure, train more people in AI, set up rules for using AI, and invest in AI technology. As IT service providers, we know how important AI is for changing the way businesses operate. The potential for AI in Pakistan is huge, and as IT service providers, we play a key role in helping it get adopted. The Pakistani government has started a few programs to promote AI. These include the National Center for Artificial Intelligence and the AI for All program. But more needs to be done to overcome the challenges. The government can finance the AI startups to help them grow, improve infrastructure like the internet and data centers, and encourage students to study AI by giving scholarships and financial help. Additionally, as IT service providers, we can also contribute by providing the necessary AI solutions and support to businesses across various sectors. We also need to make sure that people don't lose their jobs because of AI. We can do this by training people for new jobs, using AI responsibly, and thinking about ethics and privacy. As a final word, AI offers big opportunities for Pakistan. All the ones I know and who I think are doing a good job promoting AI and Data Science and all its related applications and trainings across Pakistan and outside Pakistan I would like to express my sincere thanks. I'm happy to reach the top 1% on topmate.io and after giving multiple sessions to many Pakistanis and Internationals guidance on how to build their careers in Data Science and related fields. I've now started offering my services on Topmate as well. Which compromise of: - Creating Course Content. - Launching courses. - Selling my published Book on Amazong through Topmate. - Guidance on Book design and content. After giving many sessions without accepting any compensation, even when offered, I felt it was my social responsibility to provide guidance, especially in the field of Data Science. I didn't want anyone to go through the challenges I faced when I was in their place. Now, I believe that if people prioritize their futures, they should also be willing to invest in the right guidance. While no mentor, including myself, can be perfect, we will do our best to provide guidance based on each individual's situational factors and objectives. The best professionals, whether doctors, lawyers, or consultants, charge high rates for their expertise. Similarly, quality mentorship deserves fair compensation. Here's what Pakistanis can do to make their remote work easier these days. 1. Get a fiber optic broadband They are the most resilient connections in dire times (have much better uptime than any other connection). 2. Invest in a UPS for your workspace. Power outages are global, and this will keep you online (when no one else is) 3. If you're importing hardware, get it in through someone you know rather than get it shipped. Custom agents aren't your friends, but they don't mess with persistent people. 4. Get a reliable VPN (not Nord, or Express or these region changers, but a legit one) that helps you access most of the internet. Internet blockages are political in nature, and as long as you have access to a browser, a VPN will help you stay connected. If you have extra money, then I guess traveling is a good idea (sometimes one city has a better connection than another). Also, Dubai flights are cheap if you have that kind of budget. For people hiring Pakistanis, our people are very dedicated and hard working, we're just going through some stuff on a national level, but it'll be over soon.
