Pakistan's IT exports reached an all-time high in April 2024, totaling $310 million. This marks a significant 62% increase from the previous year and a 1% rise from the previous month's record of $306 million. The growth in IT exports can be attributed to three key factors. Firstly, IT export companies have expanded their operations in the GCC region, particularly in Saudi Arabia. Secondly, the State Bank of Pakistan has relaxed the permissible retention limit, increasing it from 35% to 50% in Exporters' Specialized Foreign Currency Accounts. Finally, the stability of the Pakistani rupee has encouraged IT exporters to repatriate a higher portion of their profits. In the first 10 months of FY24, IT exports totaled $2.59 billion, up 21% from $2.14 billion in the same period of FY23.
