PROMOTING GENDER EQUITY IN EDUCATION

About us

Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education – PAGE was launched on the sidelines of the 2013 World Innovation Summit for Education. Its inaugural meeting was held in Doha, Qatar and attended by Federal Minister of Education, KPK Minister of Education, Chair of the Higher Education Commission and representatives of Citizens Foundation and other civil society organizations. It was formally registered in June 2014, under Trust Act 1882 with registration number 1349. As a developing country, Pakistan faces many challenges which must be addressed in order for the country to prepare global citizens and compete in the global market. While we are pressed with a number of issues, education remains a key issue that still requires major intellectual and financial investment. Despite many commitments by the Federal and provincial governments, Pakistan has the 2nd highest number of out of school children. Girls are particularly challenged in accessing educational opportunities because of the physical, cultural, religious and financial barriers they face. Therefore, we have focused on creating innovative solutions to help the most marginalized and deprived overcome these barriers. We believe that both on-the- ground work to reach out and engage communities and policy-level strategic work are critical to bringing about true change. PAGE is a strategic organization working towards creating an enabling environment that ensures gender equity in quality education. PAGE acts as a platform for stakeholders, donors, policymakers and practitioners to come together and address the gender gap in education in Pakistan and to create solutions to overcome the broader challenges the education sector is facing. PAGE aspires to act as a coordinating and facilitating body between Pakistani and International Organizations to achieve efficiently the following goals.

  • Our Star schools under the IDRF (International Development and Relief Foundation) Project celebrated World Meditation Day with great enthusiasm, fostering mindfulness and emotional well-being among students! Through calming activities and guided meditation sessions, students explored the power of focus and self-awareness. With closed eyes and peaceful hearts, they experienced the profound serenity that comes from being present in the moment. These moments of mindfulness not only nurtured their emotional growth but also taught them valuable skills for managing stress and building resilience. By incorporating meditation into their routines, we’re empowering young minds to thrive both academically and emotionally. At PAGE, we believe in creating holistic learning environments that prioritize well-being alongside education. Together, we’re building a brighter, balanced future for our students. #WorldMeditationDay #MindfulnessInEducation #EmotionalWellBeing #HolisticLearning #PAGEPakistan

  • At Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education-PAGE, we believe that quality education begins with empowered teachers. We're thrilled to share that a two-day teacher training on Improving Quality of Education has been successfully completed in Swat! 🎓 This comprehensive training brought together passionate educators, equipping them with innovative teaching techniques, gender-sensitive approaches, and strategies to create inclusive classrooms. By enhancing their skills, these educators are better prepared to inspire and empower their students—especially girls, who often face the greatest barriers to accessing education. Quality teaching is the backbone of transforming learning outcomes and keeping children, particularly girls, engaged in their educational journey. With this training, we are taking a significant step toward ensuring that every girl receives the education she deserves, enabling her to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society. Together, let’s continue to pave the way for a brighter, more equitable future through education. #TeacherTraining #GirlsEducation #QualityEducation #EmpoweredTeachers #PAGEPakistan #PAGE

  • The 16 Days of Activism campaign concluded with a powerful moment of recognition as certificates of appreciation were awarded to all participating students across PAGE schools in Pakistan. This campaign, a global call to action to end gender-based violence, saw incredible enthusiasm and dedication from young advocates, teachers, and community members alike. In Pakistan, where 32% of women and girls experience gender-based violence in their lifetime, campaigns like this play a crucial role in fostering awareness and driving change. School-based violence remains a significant barrier to education for millions, with approximately 26.2 million children out of school, 13.7 million of whom are girls. Gender-based violence in and around educational settings not only disrupts learning but also creates lasting trauma, leaving many girls unable to pursue their dreams. Through interactive sessions, dialogues, role plays, and art-based initiatives, PAGE empowered students to advocate for safety, equality, and justice. The active participation of students throughout the campaign reflects their unwavering commitment to building a better and safer future for all. With the support of dedicated partners, PAGE continues to stand as a gender-focused organization, working tirelessly to break cycles of violence and empower the next generation through education. Let us amplify these voices and remain steadfast in our mission to create a world free of violence and full of opportunity for every child. #16DaysOfActivism #EndGBV #EducationForAll #GirlsEmpowerment #PAGEPakistan #TurningANewPage
