✅Speakers Reflections during Seminar- Post CoP29 Seminar on Reflections from #Baku to #Pakistan ✅Dr. Dr. Abid Qaiyum Suleri. Suleri, Executive Director, Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) & Member of COP29 International Advisory Committee ⁕There is no good or bad CoP.The success of any multilateral negotiation can be measured wd participation and agreements from delegates when 200 delegates/parties trying to convince each other.CoP held every year, providing platform to learn from success & failure and plan for future. ⁕Science, data and #geopolitics is important to understand the outcome of #CoP29.We must appreciate #Azerbaijan delivered the CoP in less than 8 months. Being member of international advisory committee, regular meeting held by #COPPresidency ⁕#G20 summit held on sidelines of CoP29 most of the leadership attending it at time of CoP29 ⁕We need to take in account #NDCs, the inflation impact ⁕We need strong finance negotiators-avoid double accounting and #greenwashing in commitments ⁕Developing countries reverted from $1.3 trillion to counter the impact of #climatechange ⁕Progress on #Article6 we should be capitalizing upon ⁕Operationalisation of #lossanddamagefund, imp achievements from COP 29 ✅Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to PM on CC and Environmental Coordination ⁕We congratulate Azerbaijan for conducting successful CoP event. Why loans and sanctions, why not #grants. Why mechanism to get grants tough for developing countries ⁕🇵🇰 is going to host #V20 countries to create roadmap ✅CEO NDRMF, Mr. Bilal Anwar ⁕World Trajectory Clearly Off-Track in Terms of #1.5°C: Despite global commitments under the #ParisAgreement, current policies and actions are not sufficient to limit #globalwarming to 1.5°C ⁕New Instruments and Mechanisms to Mobilize Finance: Innovative financial mechanisms are critical to bridging the #climatefinancegap ⁕🇵🇰 estimated #climatefinance needs are staggering,Pakistan requirement annually in climate finance for both #mitigation and #adaptation, far exceeding current inflows ⁕Updating NDCs will not be sufficient: While Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are crucial, they must translate into actionable, enforceable policies ⁕The road ahead requires a collective global effort, where #innovativesolutions and substantial financial flows align with national commitments ⁕Public-private collab, equitable finance distribution, practical solutions for #climateresilience COP29 Azerbaijan Pakistan Climate Change Authority (PCCA)
