Faculty of Electrical Engineering GIKI faculty member Dr. Hadeed Ahmed Sher in collaboration with, Qassim University , and Politecnico di Torino has published a paper "A Single Sensor based Detection Mechanism for L-L/L-G faults of PV array" in IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement . The paper can be accessed using the following link https://lnkd.in/enc6DK8v Summary of the paper : A single sensor-based fault detection mechanism (FDM) for detecting line-to-line (L-L) and line-to-ground (L-G) faults in a PV array is presented. The hardware setup includes a DC-bus, capacitor-diode pair for each string, and a single current sensor. The proposed FDM offers several key advantages: it detects faults at the string level within milliseconds, preventing fire hazards; it automatically disconnects faulty strings using a passive RC network; and it is cost-effective, requiring minimal active components and a simple algorithm. The paper provides a detailed analysis and validation through computer simulations and practical experiments, demonstrating the FDM's accuracy and reliability in various fault scenarios. #FEEResearch #FEEGIKI
