“Despite global uncertainties, top executives in the Philippines are expressing renewed confidence in the country’s economic resilience and growth prospects, according to a 2024 survey conducted by PwC Philippines in partnership with the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP). The annual survey, which included responses from 168 CEOs across various industries, revealed that 86% of respondents felt optimistic about their industry’s performance for the year and 85% expected revenue growth over the next three years. Infrastructure development was highlighted as a key driver of the economy. PwC Philippines Chairman Roderick Danao highlighted the complexities facing CEOs, including rapid technological advancements, shifting customer preferences, and geopolitical tensions. PHILIPPINES' CYBERSECURITY EFFORTS RECOGNIZED GLOBALLY The Philippines's agency in charge of information and communicationntechnologies said that the remarkable achievement shows the country's significant progress in securing its cyberspace, bringing it closer to becoming a global leader in cybersecurity. Released on Sept. 12, 2024, the United Nations Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 report showed that the Philippines' cybersecurity score rose to 93.49 points from 77 points in 2020. Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Secretary Ivan Uy said that this is a huge achievement for the Philippines and shows that the collective hard work to protect Filipinos online is bearing fruit. He further commented that the Philippine government and partner stakeholder will not stop at pursuing all the efforts as it is poised on the brink of being a global leader in cybersecurity. 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 📝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒-𝟏𝟒: 𝐀 𝐒𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫    To help formulate the appropriate strategies and policies under the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, this paper examines the evidence on innovation in service industries using the 2021 Survey of Innovation Activities of Establishments, which provided broader sector coverage.   Among others, the study finds that organizations that employ at least one FIRe technology, obtain funding, use platforms, engage in R&D activities (whether outsourced or in-house), or use knowledge management methods are more likely to be innovation active and produce at least one type of innovation.
