Stephen Nedoroscik had the support of his girlfriend Tess McCracken as he medaled in the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Recently, the Team USA gymnast — whose performance on pommel horse helped Team USA clinch the bronze (the first time that the United States men's gymnastics team has medaled since 2008) — was photographed waiting for his event while appearing to snooze behind his glasses.

The photo went viral and drew Clark Kent comparisons (referring to Superman's specs-wearing alter ego), Ken comparisons and many more.

As the 25-year-old gymnast basked in the victory, he had his longtime girlfriend in Paris to support him (as well as poke fun at his viral meme).

Following the event, McCracken hilariously reacted to Nedoroscik's win as she replied to a post from the USA Gymnastics’ X account that said, “not all heroes wear capes,” which she quipped back, “Some wear glasses😎.” (And yes, her account is @stephens_gf with the bio "Ms. Pommel Horse.")

The couple first met in college and have been together for almost a decade. In fact, McCracken is a former gymnast herself, who competed on the women's team at Penn State.

Here’s everything to know about Stephen Nedoroscik's girlfriend, Tess McCracken.

She’s from Texas

Per her bio on Penn State’s website, McCracken hails from Texas. She was born on Jan. 27, 1998, in Plano, Texas to parents Broderick and Nancy McCracken. She also has an older brother named Dalton and a younger sister named Kyra.

So how did a Texan end up at a Pennsylvania state college? "I chose Penn State because the moment I stepped on campus it felt right,” she says on the athletic website. “I felt like the people here wanted me to be a part of their journey, and I decided I wanted them to be a part of my journey as well.”

She’s a former gymnast

Like Nedoroscik, McCracken has competed as a gymnast. While living in Texas, she competed for the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy in Plano, Texas, under coaches Laurent Landi, Cecile Canqueteau-Landi and Natasha Boyarskaya. During that time, she was a three-time qualifier for the Junior Olympic Nationals, per the Penn State athletic website.

She stepped away from the sport in 2020, which she documented with a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. “Dear gymnastics, Our last sixteen years together have had their ups and downs like anything else in life,” she began the post.

“You’ve caused me pain, but you’ve caused a hundred times more joy at every corner and with every new opportunity,” she continued. “You taught me what it means to truly work hard, and then you taught me again, and again, and again. You’ve brought the most amazing people in my life to me, and gave me my best friends and my greatest mentors. I don’t know who I’ll be without you yet, but I know I wouldn’t be me if it wasn’t for you my whole life.”

She ended the post, by writing, “Gymnastics, I’ll miss you, but this is just goodbye for now, not goodbye forever. I’ll be back to play someday soon. And I think it is only fitting that on my last day as a gymnast, my hand ripped on bars.”

Nedoroscik and McCracken are college sweethearts who met the summer before their freshman year in 2017. At the time, McCracken was a member of the women’s gymnastics team, while Nedoroscik was a member of the men’s gymnastics team.

In July 2020, Nedoroscik wrote about their first meeting as he celebrated their four-year anniversary. “Four years ago I had my entire collegiate experience ahead of me. Little did I know I had already found my favorite part about college,” he wrote alongside a gallery of photos of him and McCracken through the years. “I love you @tess.mccracken and happy four years.”

During an interview with Access Hollywood, Nedoroscik recalled how he met McCracken on one of the first days of their freshman summer at Penn State. He noted that they instantly connected, joking that he thought she was "weird like me" and were "basically dating" after a week of knowing each other.

She has a Masters in Biotechnology

After getting her undergraduate degree at Penn State in 2020, McCracken went on to get her Master’s in Biotechnology at the university. In December 2021, she celebrated the achievement as she posted a picture of her at her graduation.

“Thou didst mold us Dear Old State… A bittersweet moment - after five and a half years, my time as a Penn State student has come to end as I receive my Master of Biotechnology degree,” she wrote at the time. “I can’t form into words the impact being a Penn Stater has had on my life, and I am forever grateful. WE ARE! #PSUgrad.”

They celebrated their 8-year anniversary on July 4

Nedoroscik and McCracken have been together for almost a decade, celebrating their 8-year anniversary on July 4. On the special day, McCracken posted a tribute to Nedoroscik ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics

Alongside a photo of her wearing a Team USA shirt, she captioned the post with lyrics from Taylor Swift’s “Lover” song. “I’ve loved you ✨8✨ summers now, honey, but I want ‘em all,” she began the post. “Happy Anniversary, my love. What an amazing adventure we’re having❤️.”

McCracken has been cheering Nedoroscik on at the Olympics in Paris, giving glimpses of her time in the City of Love on Instagram. Shortly after Nedoroscik medaled at the Olympics, McCracken reacted to the news with a sweet photo of him and her with his bronze medal.

“History = Made,” she wrote, noting his historic achievement, which marked the United States men's gymnastics team first medal since 2008. “The most insane, magical day watching you close it out to bring home the first team medal for USA in sixteen years🇺🇸 Words can’t capture how proud I am of you❤️.”
