The country singer, 43, brought daughters Loxley and Everly on Tuesday's episode of Today, where the trio came together to perform his track "If Father Time Had a Daughter." As they got ready to sing, co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb asked Hayes' daughters about the meaning of the song. "It's about my little girls growing up. I talk a big game about raising these youngins like, you raise them so they'll leave. But now that as mine get older, I'm thinking, 'Hey wait up a second! Slow it down. You young ladies,' " says Hayes. Walker Hayes Shares How All Six of His Kids Get Involved on Tour: 'These Are Some Good Years' (Exclusive) Hayes also posted a video on Instagram of daughter Loxley after their rehearsal for the performance, asking his daughter if she was nervous. "Uh yeah, I actually was," she tells her dad, who says, "You crushed." "I wasn't nervous before we did it but in it I was like, 'Oh no,' " she adds. The country singer and wife Laney Hayes are parents to daughters Lela, Everly, Loxley and Oakleigh and sons Chapel, Baylor and Beckett. This isn't the first time one of Hayes' daughters has joined him on a song. In June, the country singer posted a video to his TikTok that featured himself and his daughter singing along to a song that Hayes had written. The untitled song, which was inspired by the father-daughter duo's recent outing to the Taylor Swift concert, hilariously poked fun at Hayes' daughter Loxley (Lolly) falling asleep at the show. "Two Taylor Swift concert ticket stubs cost me more than my mortgage does and that was before T-shirts, Cokes and popcorn. But hey, I mean how many times does your little girl turn 9?" Hayes began the song while playing the guitar. The singer was joined by Lolly, who played the mandolin. In July, Hayes chatted with PEOPLE about how all six of his kids get involved when he goes on tour. "My family travels with me. So, they've been going to shows with me," said Hayes, going on to share how they help out on the road. "Lela, my oldest daughter, she dances the whole show. She's like a paid employee." "My daughter, Loxley, sings a song with me. My son, Chapel, designs some of the merch. My son, Baylor, is a drummer — he actually gets taught drums by my drummer — and he sells bracelets and stuff." "So they all have their little affiliate things that they do with me on the road. But honestly, I know for a fact, these are some really good years," he continued. "These are some memories that I will tell their children. I'll be like, 'Hey, did you know your mom used to dance with me on stage?' And I look forward to those days." Close
