The Spider-Man: No Way Home star, 28, who stopped drinking in January 2022, announced his new non-alcoholic drink brand Bero on Tuesday, Oct. 15. “When I got sober, I started exploring the world of non-alcoholic beers and realized there was space for me to fit in,” Holland told Forbes. “My first year sober was really difficult, and had I had Bero, I think it would have been easier.” The star has been forthcoming about why he decided to get sober, the difficulties of the process and the immense reward of sticking with it. I was the type of person that, when I'd have one beer, I couldn't just have one beer. I knew I'd had a bit of a problem for a while.” He described the first several months as being “tough” and said that he initially challenged himself to stay sober until his birthday on June 1. “By the time I'd done six months, I started to feel great,” he explained. “It was very difficult, it has been the hardest thing I've ever done, and arguably the greatest achievement of my life. I'm very proud to be sober today.” Bero, which can be pronounced as “beer-oh” or you can “say it how you like!” according to the brand’s website, was first workshopped in November 2023 as a true passion project for Holland. “There’s no secret that as a celebrity, you're constantly being offered these kinds of brand deals,” Holland told Forbes. “But I never found anything I felt particularly passionate about — until now.” Holland and his co-creator, longtime beverage marketer John Herman, were “absolutely grinding” over the last year to create three Bero drinks: Kingston Golden Pils, Edge Hill Hazy IPA and Noon Wheat. “Either everyone in my life is lying to me, or we’ve somehow bottled f---ing liquid gold,” Holland added. Holland explained how fellow Spider-Man star and girlfriend Zendaya was useful in a sort of backhanded way. “Zendaya hates beer, like, absolutely hates beer. She does not drink beer at all, and the first round of testing she was like, ‘Wow, these are really tasty’, and I was like, ‘Well, that's probably not a good sign’,” joked Holland. Kingston Golden Pils is named after his hometown, Kingston Upon Thames, and described as a “fresh take” on a European Pils. Edge Hill Hazy IPA is tropical and hoppy and took the name of Holland’s school. Noon Wheat is coined after his dog and meant to have a citrusy punch. There are three Bero beers available. The symbol is another reference to Holland’s hometown. Bero is sold online in single flavor six-packs ($16), 12-packs ($30), 18-packs ($45) and 24-packs ($55). A variety 12-pack ($33.50) is also available. The brand plans to roll out to Target stores nationwide in early 2025. Close
