People Editorial Guidelines Published on January 11, 2024 02:07PM EST Summer's supposed to be fun, but that's not how it will play out in the upcoming season of Summer House for Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke. The formerly engaged couple's split played out in real time while the Bravo show was filming in mid-2022, and on Thursday Bravo released the first season 8 trailer showing the dissolution of the relationship between the Loverboy partner, 38, and the PR maven, 37. The first shots of the trailer hold off on showing the exes at all, instead focusing on the trappings of their wedding, including a "BRIDE" makeup bag, as the two have strained conversation about trust and control. "I’m not happy, and I don’t think you’re happy," Carl tells his then-fiancée. He adds later, "You’re really gifted at playing victim." Carl Radke Doesn't Think Reconciling with Lindsay Hubbard Is an Immediate 'Possibility' as They 'Heal Separately' Lindsay calls her father and tells him that Carl "told me he wants to call off the wedding and break up." Carl predicts how the post-breakup narrative will unfurl: "She’s gonna spin this and then tell everybody she’s blindsided." Cut directly to Lindsay telling her dad, "I feel very blindsided." Steps away in the kitchen, Carl says in resignation, "I’ll be the bad guy, that’s fine. But she’s blind to the things that have gone on the last year." But as the summer began, Danielle was a mixture of nervous and hopeful, telling Kyle Cooke: "I'm not holding on to what happened last summer. I hope she isn't." And things seem to be on the up in general, with Lindsay welcoming Danielle, Amanda Batula, Ciara Miller and Gabby Prescod to her bridal shower. She even predicts to Carl that she might be pregnant by summer 2024, adding, "So I feel like this is the perfect summer to just really, like, enjoy ourselves." Carl Radke Admits His Sobriety Was Tested the Night He Left His Apartment with Lindsay Hubbard (Exclusive) But oh, how they do not. Carl — who has celebrated his three-year sobriety anniversary since filming concluded — claims Lindsay "accused [him] of doing drugs" and wonders in a confessional interview: "That's the person I'm supposed to marry?" As the tension escalates, Lindsay calls Carl "a f---ing terrorist," and tells Kyle says ominously, "I'll burn this f---ing house down." Putting the proverbial nail in the coffin, Carl's stepfather tells him, "I've been a minister my whole career. And I've married tons of people. I wouldn't marry you and Lindsay." Santiago Felipe/Getty Elsewhere in the trailer, Paige DeSorbo is surprised to get the full-court press from Jesse Solomon — who is the show's newest housemate alongside West Wilson. While West says he's "definitely vibing" with Ciara, Jesse thinks he has a shot with Paige, apparently unbothered that she's in a well-established relationship with Southern Charm star Craig Conover. "Am I supposed to only hit on the single girls?" he asks a speechless Kyle. Craig Conover Says He and Paige DeSorbo Aren't Rushing to Engagement: 'Enjoying What We Have' (Exclusive) Later, after Jesse comes on to Paige at a party, leaving her jaw dropped, Kyle asks, "Do you want to rethink how hard you were hitting on her the first couple weekends?" This question, naturally (and very awkwardly), is posed while Craig is visiting for the weekend as he and Paige continue to navigate their long-distance relationship between New York City to Charleston, South Carolina. And that might be a sticking point — later in the trailer, the 31-year-old fashion influencer tells Craig, 31, in frustration, "You won't compromise on anything!" Clifton Prescod/Bravo via Getty Kyle's also dealing with his own relationship issues as Ciara, 28, asks his wife Amanda, "Do you, like, feel like you have an identity outside of Kyle? Because I don't." That prompts Amanda, 32, to later say to her husband, 41: "You don't like it when I have a stance on something." Kyle shoots back, "Your stance is bulls---." Amanda Batula Nixed Valentine's Plans with Kyle Cooke for a Girls' Night: 'Romance Is Not in His Vocabulary' Bravo The Summer House season 8 trailer comes four months to the day from when Carl officially called off the wedding to Lindsay, which was supposed to take place in Mexico this past fall. Following weeks of rumors of his and Hubbard’s relationship status, he announced the news in a letter, which was obtained by PEOPLE, to family and friends that explained the decision. "Words cannot possibly express how difficult the last two weeks have been for Lindsay and I," he wrote. "We are so incredibly sorry to all of our guests for the confusion and lack of communication. We were left trying to figure out how this all exactly happened before we could even have the opportunity to determine the path forward amongst ourselves." "There have been a lot of false narratives and misunderstandings that have made this all the more painful but sadly at this time we are not moving forward with the wedding," Carl continued. "The fact of the matter is Lindsay is devastated and I'm crushed with how all this transpired. I graciously ask for some patience and grace to heal and recover while we navigate this extremely difficult time."
