Kim Kardashian Goes 'Blingy Sexy Robot' for Met Gala, and Kanye West Wears Ripped Jeans!

The couple never fails to bring the drama with their Met Gala ensembles

Over the past four years, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have become a mainstay on the Met Gala red carpet. Whether you love or hate their looks, one thing’s for sure: the couple never fails to cause a stylish scene, always opting for a daring look. Whether it’s Kanye rocking a plunging neckline and fringe or Kim’s unforgettable glove-sleeve hybrid. And this year is no exception, with the couple proving that it’s never not Yeezy season.

After giving a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of her previous Met Gala looks all day, Kim finally revealed this year’s Manus x Machina look on tonight’s red carpet. Of course, the reality star went with some custom Balmain for the occasion, a logical choice given her family’s well-established love for house, with Kim, Kanye, Kendall and Kylie all having previously starred in campaign’s for the brand in the past. Kim’s look for the evening is all about robot glam, as were her fellow members of the Balmain Army Jourdan Dunn and Cindy Crawford, wearing a fully sequined, form-fitting silver looked, with a high-slit skirt, and slicked-back hair. The reality star told E! News live on the red carpet, “I kind of wanted a silver theme. I felt everyone was gonna go with that. I still really wanted to do it. I thought Balmain was the perfect choice for me and Kanye especially. I wanted to be a blingy sexy robot…North said, ‘Mommy I need that dress. I said as soon as I get home you can have it. You can wear it to prom.'”

Kanye, on the other hand, kept things traditionally low-key, opting for what appears to be another custom Balmain x Yeezy jacket, this time a crystal-laden twist on the traditional jean jacket paired with a white tee, camel colored boots, and a pair of his favorite ripped up blue jeans (we can practically see Anna Wintour scowling from here). The rapper finished up his look with the blue “Wolves” contacts he’s been wearing off and on for about a year now, which he described to E! as simply “vibes.”

The couple not only totally nailed this year’s Gala trend, giving us head-to-toe mechanical chic, but they also managed to do it with a fun high-fashion twist, with Kanye breaking all the formal fashion rules, per usual.
