From Date Night to Brunch, Exactly What to Wear This Weekend

Big plans this weekend? Take some style notes from these fashion-forward stars

You probably have Spring fever and temps should start to rise a bit this weekend in most parts of the country, which hopefully means no fleece-lined boots or puffer coats. So we selected three looks that will take you from a fun night out through Monday morning looking like a pro (not a snow bunny).

Saturday night: Thanks to our Celeb Style Council members, we totally have boyfriend jeans on the brain, and we really want to try dressing them up for an evening out. Enter Alessandra Ambrosio, who effortlessly takes her distressed denim bottoms from daytime to date night material thanks to a few tricks: the slight cuff at the bottom and those studded pumps.

First, you’ll need the right jeans to pull if off. If you have a pair, great; if not, we’re loving this relaxed style from Gap. Top with a loose sweater (notice Alessandra’s front tuck!) from your closet, and all you need are some fun studded heels. Our pick? These Nine West “Rockster” ankle-strap stunners — on sale now!

Sunday brunch: Remember what we said about no puffer coats this weekend? We want to wear Jessica Alba’s springy striped Chloé topper instead. Basically, if we got our hands on the jacket we’d wear it all day every day. (Same with her perforated ‘Baylee’ tote priced at $2,599.75!).

Unless you’re operating on an Alba-sized budget, we have some looks for less you might want to consider. This striped ASOS coat has the same exact feel and a similar color palette. Plus, it won’t cost you your entire paycheck. And for a fun bag to carry in to spring, this perforated style from Nordstrom is a fun alternative.

Leighton Meester style, red shoes

Monday morning: When we stopped swooning over Leighton Meester’s engagement ring (which made its public debut at a photocall for the Broadway show Of Mice and Men Thursday), we started to obsess over her outfit. (Okay, we’re still swooning over the rock too.) Her black sweater and gray slacks (both Band of Outsiders) are totally office appropriate without feeling too stuffy, and the red Kurt Geiger shoes give a fun twist to the otherwise neutral ensemble.

So if you plan to do some shopping this weekend with your work wardrobe in mind, you might want to nab a pair of these ankle-zip contrast trim Express pants. The sleek cropped silhouette will carry you through spring. Add a black cardi or blazer from your closet and, if you really want to pull a Leighton, accessorize with some scarlet pumps.

Tell us: Which look will you wear this weekend?
