Photo: Nathan Congleton/NBC via Getty Sheinelle Jones is sharing some early details about her upcoming book.Speaking with PEOPLE after celebrating fellow Today show host Al Roker’s 70th birthday on Tuesday, Aug. 20, Jones, 46, spoke about how the idea for her forthcoming book, Through Mom’s Eyes, initially came about. The book, which will be published next year by G.P. Putnam’s Sons, is based on a segment that Jones hosts on the news program.“I do a series on the show, it's called Through Mom's Eyes, where I interview moms of people we admire, from Steph Curry to Shaq[uille O’Neal], Lady Gaga, Lin-Manuel Miranda, you name it,” Jones says. “And I noticed after interviewing about 20 of them that I was taking all of these jewels and applying it to myself for my own kids, calling my girlfriends and being like, ‘Can I tell you how Steph Curry's mom got him to do his chores?’” Sheinelle Jones. Let me see if I can write about what I've learned. Jamie McCarthy/Getty “Even while I was writing this, there were times that were really tough and I would be writing a chapter with Lucille O'Neal, Shaq's mom, and she talked about alcoholism, and I'm going through my own thing and I'm like, ‘You know what? She was able to push through that and motherhood didn't stop,’” Jone says. I hope it's inspiring,” Jones adds. “I hope people laugh a little bit. They may shed a tear or two, but ultimately it's my love letter to moms.”Jones, who joined the Today show in 2014, is the mother to three children: Kayin, 14, and twins Uche and Clara, 12.
