Shania Twain is opening up about the health and safety of her touring crew after they were involved in a traffic accident earlier this week

On Thursday, the country music star, 58, offered an update to fans and thanked them for their support following a traffic accident in Canada on Wednesday that led to the hospitalization of several members of her Queen of Me Tour crew. The singer-songwriter posted to her story on Instagram to share a statement.

“Thank you so much for the outpour of love and support from everyone,” Twain wrote in white text over a black backdrop.

“First and foremost my touring family are safe,” she continued. “Anyone needing medical care is receiving great support.”

The “You’re Still the One” singer then took a moment to commend the strength of both her crew and the community who looked after them. “The local community and every single crew person has been phenomenal, in the face of a very scary scenario,” the singer-songwriter added.

The Grammy winner concluded with a heartfelt note. She wrote, “Hug and hold those you love, we are doing the same! ❤️”

Poor driving conditions due to inclement weather led two vehicles that are a part of Twain's tour to get in an accident on Wednesday. The country-pop artist herself was not in the bus or truck that were affected as they drove through Canada between tour stops.

The “Any Man of Mine” singer’s management company, Maverick Management, shared a statement with PEOPLE about the incident. “One crew bus and one truck from the Shania Twain - Queen Of Me tour were involved in a highway accident driving between Winnipeg and Saskatoon," the statement said. "Multiple vehicles encountered dangerous driving conditions due to inclement weather. Members of the production crew who require medical attention have been taken to nearby hospitals."

"We are incredibly thankful to the emergency services teams for their quick response and ongoing support," the statement continued. "We ask for patience as we look after our touring family.”

The accident took place as the country icon was traveling from her Tuesday night show at Canada Life Center in Winnipeg to the SaskTel Center in Saskatoon where she was scheduled to take the stage on Thursday. The Saskatoon show went on as planned.
