Brooke Shields’ New Book About 'Possibilities' of Midlife to Publish in 2025 — See the Cover Here! (Exclusive)

Brooke Shields is stepping into her next chapter, and hopes readers will come along for the ride.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the cover for Shields’ new book, Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, forthcoming from Flatiron Books early next year. The book is an “intimate and empowering exploration of aging” that presents a new way for women to view getting older, per its official description.

Shields, 59, has been in the public eye since she was a child star, and the actress and entrepreneur often felt “scrutinized” and “judged” while in the spotlight. As she's gotten older, Shields says she has learned that time can provide a new sense of freedom and independence, with her feeling “more comfortable, more empowered and confident” in this new era of life.

In Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old, the Mother of the Bride star puts forth her view that women in midlife have the opportunity to decide their own lives and stories. Weaving together elements of research and reporting, Shields analyzes age-related bias and provides an optimistic look at getting older.

Shields is also the author of the New York Times bestselling books Down Came the Rain, a memoir of her experience with postpartum depression, and There Was a Little Girl, about her relationship with her mother, Teri, who died in 2012. In addition to her writing and acting, Shields is the CEO of Commence, a haircare company that also furthers her mission about embracing life’s next steps.

“I hope this book can help start a conversation that benefits us collectively,” Shields says in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “Midlife can be the prime of life — it's filled with so many more possibilities than we've been led to believe. I have loved the process of writing this book, and I can't wait to share it with readers.”

Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old will be published on Jan. 14, 2025 and is now available for preorder, wherever books are sold. Shields will also narrate the audiobook edition.
