The rocker, 65, released his new track “We’ll Get By” on Friday, Oct. 4, the same day Ava turned 27. “‘We’ll Get By’ was written about the positive attitudes of us getting by the challenges and opportunities of the future,” Sambora tells PEOPLE. The track is all about making change in the world, and in a nod to his daughter, whom he shares with ex-wife Heather Locklear, includes the line, “If you see through your children’s eyes, you see they see a different life.” A source tells PEOPLE Sambora wrote the song about realizing the importance of Ava’s generation, and the ways in which younger folks tackle real-world problems. Ava, who revealed her engagement to fiancé Tyler Farrar in February, announced in May that she’d graduated from the University of Southern California with a master of science in marriage and family therapy.
