According to the autopsy report obtained by PEOPLE, the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department indicated Waring's death was ruled as an accident as a result of the use of fentanyl, methamphetamine and olanzapine (an antipsychotic typically used to treat schizophrenia). In a post shared on her Instagram account on April 6, the former Real Housewives of Orange County cast member announced that Waring had died on March 31 at the age of 35. “It is with a shattered heart that I write this post to let you know that my sweet Josh left this earth Easter Sunday,” Peterson, 63, previously wrote. The heartbreaking carousel post featured photos from Waring’s childhood, shots of him and his daughter Kennady as well as a photo of Peterson and Waring at her 2007 wedding. Peterson also mentioned that Waring had “fought every single day for most of his adult life, for his life,” adding that “this past Sunday, the challenge was too great.” “He received the most joy, pride and purpose through his daughter Kennady and watching her grow and thrive over the years,” she concluded. Three years after Kennady was born in 2012, the former reality TV star formally adopted her granddaughter in 2015 while Waring and his then-wife continued to deal with their own struggles. “Not everyone understands those suffering from substance abuse disorder, but I am forever grateful for your understanding and the impact you made on his life,” Peterson told Bravo's The Daily Dish in October 2015.
