On Monday, July 22, the organization announced Rachel's death in a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter) and shared how the team honored her before their home game against the Tampa Bay Rays. "Prior to today’s game, we held a moment of silence to mourn the loss of Rachel Minaya, the beloved wife of Yankees Senior Advisor of Baseball Operations Omar Minaya, and the devoted mother to Teddy and Justin Minaya," the Yankees said in the statement. "We send our deepest condolences to Rachel’s family and friends during this time," the team added. SNY reporter Andy Martino shared a photo of the tribute before Monday's game in a post. "It is impossible to overstate the depth of feeling in this sport for Omar Minaya," Martino wrote, adding that Omar "has impacted many lives." The Yankees honored Rachel with a moment of silence before today’s game. Both New York teams are taking this loss hard." Information about the cause of death have not yet been made available. However, the New York Post reported on Monday morning that the mother of two was found dead inside the family's New Jersey home. The outlet said a person briefed by the family had confirmed that Rachel was found inside and that Omar was not home at the time of his wife's death. The source who confirmed those details to the New York Post also said that suicide has been ruled out. PEOPLE has contacted Bergen County Police for further information. Scott Wintrow/Getty According to NorthJersey.com, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella issued a release on Monday that said the Harrington Park Police Department found an unresponsive adult female unconscious in the bathroom of a private residence after responding to a 9-1-1 call. The outlet reported that first responders attempted to revive the woman and transported her to Hackensack Meridian Health Pascack Valley Medical Center before she was pronounced dead. Rachel is survived by Omar and their two sons, Justin and Teddy Minaya. Justin, 25, plays professional basketball for the Portland Trail Blazers and most recently competed with the team in the annual NBA Summer League tournament in Las Vegas.
